Yup, I believe that is correct on the 9/10ths but there's a sticker on every pump in the USA that reads that there are federal taxes included in the price of the fuel. And....today the fine folks that brought you that 9/10ths are now debating the notion of adding another 12 cents. Really, 12 cents? In the spirit of this thread lets get to even money and add on either a dime, or a nickel and a dime, or a quarter....LOL. On the 9/10ths you're missing my point, I feel the same way as the originator of this discussion, pricing down by a few pennies (or tenths of a cent) to make the price look more appealing seems a little silly but there apparently is a large portion of the population that feel better about products that are priced way. Virtually all retailers price things that way. Wal-Mart would have to go out of business if prices could no longer end in a "9", LOL. Maybe I'd feel differently if a few pennies were actually worth anything these days, hence the debate of discontinuing the production of pennies. I doubt pennies will ever go away in my lifetime. Again, interesting discussion.....and I'm not trying to start an argument or disrespect anyone. just enjoying the conversation. Peace....

Interesting topic.......I have to shake my head every time I fill up with gas.....9/10 of a cent....? How my drops of gasoline adds up to 9/10's of a cent? "Fill'er up sir? No, just give me $20 and 9/10 of a cent worth please." Oh wait, there are no stations with full service fill ups....silly me....LOL.

I just completed this thing this past weekend. The customer had sent a picture of a similar design. I recommended that we should make the holster and mag holder so they can also be worn on a belt, hence the extra belt slots. It was a fun little project.

Things I've Learned From Leather Working
rejerome replied to CTaylorJr's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
If you think you have plenty of material for that big project,....you don't., buy more leather, dye, finish and of course it's also a good opportunity to add any last minute tools to your order. If you think you have all the tools you could possibly ever need, stop listening to your spouse......you don't Go buy some more tools. If you think you have learned absolutely everything you will ever need to know about this craft......you haven't, do yourself a favor and buy a few more tools. If you're bored in the evenings and there are no good John Wayne movies on, grab your laptop and start searching eBay for a few of those elusive "vintage" tools. Things a little slow and your spouse suggests you work on some things around the house......no time for that, you've got some urgent tool shopping to attend to. I think you get my point...... -
Go to YouTube and do a search for "richard black holster patterns". He has a couple videos that are pretty good for beginner holster designers. Good luck.

Need Some Very Lightweight But Good Quality Leather.
rejerome replied to Campchair's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Have you tried Springfield Leather Company? Give'm a call at 800-668-8518. They're a sponsor of this site. I just bought some 2-3 oz belly pieces and it is really nice stuff. -
Here's the project that uses the belt keepers I described. This rig can be worn as a vest or the holster and mag holder can be removed and worn on a belt.

Thanks for the feedback. Call me old fashioned, I like the look of hand sewn and in my particular application they're visible.

I'm currently working on a project that requires several belt keepers. I've never seen any information on the process, so here's how I do them. I used a strap cutter to rough out the width of the straps from some 3-4 oz. scrap leather. . I made some 1/2" wide and some 3/4" wide. Next I cut them to the appropriate length. Using dividers I lightly mark decorative lines about 3/16" from each side. I used a #3 edge beveler to bevel the edges. I then burnished the edges using my dremel and Pro Edge burnisher. Next I dampened the leather and used a modeling tool to deepen the decorative lines and then sit them aside to dry. I have also stitched on these lines in the past, but burnished lines were all I needed on these. Once the strips were dry I used a stitching awl to punch matching holes in each end of the straps. I used a single harness needle and whip stitched the ends together as shown in the pictures. I stitched from one side to the other and then went back through each hole a second time. I finished off with a square knot and melted the cut ends. These will be dyed and finished to match the finished straps. Happy leathering!

That's a really nice design. I like it. I'd be like you and afraid of over doing the aging. Don't change a thing!

Super Red Hawk With Scope Holster
rejerome replied to rejerome's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
It's just a very basic loop. The owner intended to use the basic loop in combination with the strap over the shoulder. That pistol is HEAVY! The strap snaps on that big hand thingy above the belt loop. This holster is all hand stitched. Thanks again!
