I was going to make all three skulls white, but it was my wife who suggested the different colors. Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm still learning, and GREATLY appreciate the input. Anyone have any advice on how much to charge for something like this? I have had some people ask me to make some for them, But I have no idea what i should charge.

Still working on my carving skills. This turned out ok i think. It was fun making it.

Yes I live in an apartment on the 2nd floor, so hammering is difficult. I got a nice piece of scrap Granite 13x14 and i set it on my legs so when i was beveling it did transfer fron the table to the floor to my neighbors downstairs. I used to kive downstairs and that was much easier.

IT's Fiebings "light blue" dye.haha I'd like to see the dark blue! I used a very fine paint brush to apply it to the letters. I was going to go with a red for more contrast, but blue fits the band's color scheme of one of their albums better.

Ok! first wristband with tooling/carving! Pillar is a band I like, so I thought I would try a logo band. I wasn't so hot at the beveling, but overall I am happy with how it came out. Vry new to the carving aspect.

This is the Fourth strap I've made, 4inch wide, made for a guy in alaska! This one was a little more work because i screwed up the Super Sheen the first time by putting on too much. Got some deglazer, took that off and re-applied Satin Sheen with a sponge this time. Much better! Sorry about the picture size. I don't know how to do the thumbnail thing.

HI! I'm Ryan born and raised in Texas but now I live in tulsa oklahoma. Just started back in September of 07. I have been wanting to make guitar straps and wristbands for awhile, but never made the leap. There is a tandy store here in tulsa that my father-in-law discovered so I stopped in and asked some questions and bought some supplies. After seeing several different places on the net about making guitar straps, and seeing the prices of some custom made stuff(400.00?)(wow). I figured i would try my hand at it. I have had a blast so far and even sold a strap i've made! I work with a guy who was quite the leathercrafter 30 years ago when he was in his twenties and he has given me a few tidbits of advice, but I REALLY enjoy the people on this forum and hope to glean some knowledge wherever I can! I am just starting on the carving and tooling side of things and am very inspired by what you guys can do! Pics coming soon.

Some wristbands that i made.

I dyed the back red and used gum tragacanth to smooth it. I haven't tried a liner yet but will be soon. I want to try some filigree on some straps. I have seen some pretty cool ones, and I want to give it a try. Still learning!!
