Hi All Posted some stuff in the past but not a great deal. Never really had the time to do much leather working as I just don't have the space, currently trying to convince my Misses to let me have the spare bedroom to turn in to my workshop hehe. Then I can really start working. Any way this was just a quick thing I knocked up for my daughter and a few friends kids as well. Couple of mistakes made but then I did make all 3 in just less than 2 hours. Very simple but hope you like them, my friends kids and mine love them and that's all that counts.

Hi The Northampton Leather Museum has a couple of books they sell on their website web link below http://www.museumofleathercraft.org/leather-b/ Keep meaning to go and check the museum out as I only live down the road from it and pass it every time I go to see my parents hehe.

I probably should add before anyone thinks I'm a bit weird (if it's not already to late hehe). This Corset is for my Girlfriend and the reason there is no lining on the inside of the leather is because she wanted it to wear on top of her normal clothing so I thought no point using any thing for the inside, I may decide to add at a later date but for the moment it fits fine and looks good on her.

Hi All Just finished putting this together on the weekend, I'm really happy with the way it turned out (considering it was my first attempted at a corset). I really love the colours to, great combination but then I made it so I'm a little biased hehe. Completely hand stitched a total of 27 metres of braided thread, my hands was killing after all that and yes I was wearing gloves too. Would love to hear what everyone thinks of it good or bad. What better way to learn from your mistakes than to hear constructive criticism. Caldorn Darren DarkWave Leathers

Hi Sarah Welcome to the forum, I'd be interested to know the costumes you do. That's where my main area of work is to, I do Cosplay myself. Also the Corset sounds good, I tried to do one myself a little while back didn't turn out to well but during it I did come across a number of really good patterns if you need any help. Sweet thanks for that i'll have to give them a look and see what I come up with. Ye I remember the history lessons about Northampton Leather trade mainly it's because of Northampton being central for the Boot and Shoe industry. There was a massive leather tanning factory just outside Northampton which the building is still there. There was talk ages ago about it being turned into a leatherworking museum but unfortunately not to happen it become a hotel (I think) and had a huge housing estate built round it :-( No problem Bev I'm interested to find all this out myself too.

Really ? There is other Leather companies in the Northampton area ?? Who and where abouts? Please Cheaper then Tandy now that peaked my interest although any where would be cheaper than them. Hehe. I mainly get supplies from Amazon which isn't to bad if you wait for a deal.

Thanks Ye when I found out the main warehouse for Tandy Leather was in Northampton (Which is where I'm from originally) I was well chuffed. Really nice people there, they was nice enough to help teaching me tooling and went through the basics of leather hand stitching when I first started. Ahh but down south way you have loads more culture, and some really good summer weather, well when it's not flooded that is.

Hi All Found this website a little while back but first time I'm posting here. I’ve been in to leather working for a couple of years now but unfortunately rarely find the time to do much these days. I started because I’m an avid Cos-player and one year I made an Ezio Auditore (Assassins Creed 2) Outfit and decided to try and use real leather on the cloak and shoulder guards for authenticity. After doing the outfit I found I really enjoyed working with leather and started looking at other things to make. Currently working on (once I get a little more money to buy more leather J) A Full suit of leather armour I designed myself, a leather bound spellbook (Used for LARP which I also do in spare time), and lots of little things that pop in to my head at the time hehe. I have a little note pad with me at all times cause I love drawing out patterns for many of the ideas I have. I will post them here once I’ve made them up myself first. Anyway glad I found this site and I’m looking forward to getting to know likeminded people and share ideas for future work.
