  1. Thanks Rohn! After lots of hand stitching the Cowboy sure does a nice job and a whole lot quicker. The Cowboy will never compare to "handy work" but man it's fast! JW
  2. OK, here it is for all the world to see. After much "test" sewing with my new CB3200 I finally broke down and decided to try a new holster pattern with some cheap Tandy leather. Machine sewing is nice but it appears I have a bit to learn. Thanks in advance for any input.
  3. George, I agree with Chief, probably not easily portable for most people. As with all full size leather machines it weighs in at over 200 lbs assembled. But for me I consider it "semi portable" and here's why. My employment (and not leather crafting, don't laugh....) currently requires full time travel. A new project/town every three to four months. My wife and two small dogs also travel with me so we naturally carry a lot of personal things with us. Since I wasn't about to leave all my leather tools at home only to use them if I get a vacation (is there such a thing?) my solution was to invest in a small 5'x8' enclosed trailer. The machine and my toolbox with my leather hand tools fits nicely in the front and I still have room for the few things I need for "work". Like all jobs mine can be very stressful so it's nice to have my leather stuff to work with on the weekends and evenings. I didn't care for the plastic casters that came on the base so I replaced them with some larger rubber ones and it rolls much easier now. The head alone weighs 100 lbs so I wouldn't dream of disassembling it when I move unless absolutely necessary. I'll roll it on the trailer and go. After many months of frustration with a "portable" Tippman Boss I sold it, bought a CB3200 and never looked back. Just my two bit's.....JW
  4. Hey BHPshooter, While Wiz has some very valid points I must ask the question, where did you purchase your machine from (new/used)? Unless you bought it used your dealer should be able to help. I recently (two weeks ago) received my CB3200 from Ryan Neels @ Neels Saddlery & Harness (national distributor for Cowboy) and it worked flawlessly straight out of the box. I'm willing to bet he would be willing to help you troubleshoot any issues you are having even if he didn't sell you the machine. He's "good people". Give him a call @ 330-692-1418, he IS the Cowboy guru IMHO..... Just sayin' JW
  5. This post got me wondering so I did some searching and found Superior Threads in St. George, UT. Believe it or not they stock 1# cones of bonded nylon #277 in sixteen colors! Just sayin'..... JW
  6. She just arrived this afternoon and I must say for the money this is THE COOLEST machine on the market IMHO! (and it ought to be your's). Ryan Neel has been so great to work with. It sews wonderfully straight out of the box (thanks to his attention to detail) and it arrived undamaged and very quickly. I haven't had much time to spend tonight trying her out other than sewing a few test scraps but so far all I can say this thing rocks! If you're on the fence get off it and over it and give Ryan @ Neel's Saddelry and Harness (330-692-14180) a call and get ya one! For tonight she will have to rest in my "studio" but I'll be sure to post a full review and more pics ASAP..... JW
  7. Ha Hee! Ryan said he's a nite owl, call and get your order in but he better ship mine first.....LOL
  8. Just got off the phone W/Ryan and completed my order! Gonna be hard to sleep the next few nights until it arrives. OK Francesco, if I give you my cell number will you call and read me a bedtime story later so I can get some sleep tonight????
  9. Thank You Sir! I think I can make that work!
  10. Hey Francesco I hate to bug ya but can you tell me the length/width of the table that comes with the 3200? I travel full time for work and want to make sure I can fit the machine into my "gypsy caravan" trailer when I move on next month. I may need to order it with the 3500 style pedestal stand instead...... Thanks! JW
  11. No worries Francesco, just spoke w/Ryan and he can UPS my machine for $180. This way I don't have to deal with the common carrier truck line.....it will be sitting in my living room one day next week when I get home. Now I only have to convince my wife......
  12. Nice! How did Neel's ship it to you? UPS? $210.00 seems like a really good price to the west coast. I was thinking it would cost me that much to have one shipped to Minneapolis. Must call Ryan this morning to survive....
  13. Hey Francesco it's great to see a post on the CB3200. I hope to be ordering one soon myself. Just wondering, does the stitch looks as good on the bottom as it does on top?
  14. Chapelstone, I'm in Minneapolis, MN.
  15. Price drop.....I did stitch two holsters with it over the weekend. It stitches fine but I've decided to upgrade to an electric machine. $1100.00
  16. Tippmann Boss new in box/unused for sale. Includes extra bobbins, center presser foot, flat bed attachment w/edge guide and LED light. $1300.00 plus shipping. PM or email @ jsw120@hotmail.com. JW
  17. I purchased Tippmann Boss last winter and have only stitched a few holsters and four belts. Even though the needle probably didn't get enough use in my slow moving machine to warrant changing I decided to put a new one in this morning anyway. I was surprised to find a burr on the needle point. It's on the scarf side only and the other side is fine. It stitches as well as expected for the Boss but I'm not sure if this is a timing issue or if the shuttle needs to be shimmed somehow. Maybe this is an inherent problem with the Boss? Thanks in advance for any input. JW
  18. Is there a "trick" I'm not aware of for setting Segma snaps? I would like to use them to secure buckles on smaller belts but they don't hold very well. I own several "factory" belts with similar snaps (I'm using Tandy snaps/setter) and they hold great. Is there a way to tighten them up? Maybe it's the Tandy snaps........
  19. What machine/thread size did you use? Looks great, just wondering....
  20. RoosterShooter it appears my "Boss" likes "no bobbin tension" and very little needle tension. I'll post some pics this coming weekend if I can get time to try another stitching project. We shall see.....
  21. Thanks Dwight, I try to stitch 1/8" from the edge, is this too close or just too close for the "Boss"? Jon
  22. Camano Ridge, I believe you are correct. After a lengthy conversation with Jamie @ Tippmann I dropped almost all the bobbin tension and some of the needle tension and it's doing much better tonight!
  23. I'm new to LW.net and have a brand new "Boss" but I'm not sure if the love affair will continue if I can't get the bottom stitches to look better. The pics show the top and bottom of a belt I've just stitched. IMHO the top is great for a first effort but the bottom has much to be desired. I've set the thread tension per the video (and experimented) and the bobbin tension is about (as far as I can "feel") is 1# or less. I'm using 277 thread and a 200 chisel point needle per the manual. I wind my bobbins slowly with a Singer bobbin winder which does a fine job so I don't think uneven bobbin winding is an issue. Any suggestions? I do love being able to place every stitch slowly and accurately and since my job (retail construction) requires constant travel I love the small footprint of the Boss but I've only had it two weeks (it could go back to Tippman under the 30 day return policy). I do own a trailer that I could make room in for a Cobra or Cowboy if necessary......
