This machine can sew up to 1 inch of stacked leather. It has been modified with a foot or top driven reverse. The machine has extra bobbins , needles , and a new extra shuttle hook. I have a youtube video that I made making a leather gun belt I have attached the link you can see the machine working. I have more pictures on craiglist Chicago. http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/for/5217305174.html Singer 7-34 $1,500.00 OBO. The machine is located in Plainfield IL 60586
  2. Hi THRLeather & wig190861, I don't have an issue with the smell. After it dries I use neats foot oil. After I am finished with the piece I use Fiebings Aussie Leather conditioner. You don't have to seal the leather Vinegaroon does not rub off on your clothing. It's a chemical reaction that dyes the leather. Hope this helps Thanks
  3. The peddle on the right is for reverse. To adjust the stitch length there is a bolt on the left side of the deck for the adjustment. It was set up with reverse by the Singer Company that is way the stitch length adjuster is not on the front of the machine. I love these old Sewing Machine.
  4. I found a Singer 7-34 it dates back to 1924 it will sew over 1" of leather. This machine was rebuilt in 1995 by the Singer Company and was set up with reverse, the gentleman I bought it from used it to make and repair saddles and harnesses in the Upper Peninsula of MI. This machine is in very good condition I was very lucky to fine it. The drive up there from IL was about 6 hours and was worth the ride.

  12. I found this Singer 7-34 from an farmer in the UP of Michigan. He bought it from the Singer Company in 1994 it was refurbished. He used it in his harness shop it will sew 11/8" leather. The machine has not been used very hard. It has been retrofitted with revers and it is in very good shape. I can now retire my old 29-4. This is a badass sewing machine.
