  1. Thanks guys, The dye is really pretty easy to accomplish. Once you get it, its easy to repeat.
  2. Thanks Guys, Tramps....The dye pattern is made using a sponge, just dabbing around until you get the look you want. Then I blend everything using an airbrush. The base color is saddle tan and the darker is dark brown. The process works with other color combos too.
  3. For Christmas this year my brother got me a Leatherman Wave. This was very uncharacteristic for him and will be something I will always cherish. With that said, I love it, but the case left a lot to be desired. A simple nylon pouch, sooooooooo that had to go. I seen a YouTube video by Leodis Leather and got inspired, if you are new to leather craft you should check him out. His videos are great and he only asks for donations. I have paid for videos that weren't anywhere as informative. (I am not affiliated with him.....except for leaving a donation )Anyway here is what I ended up with.....As always Thanks for looking
  4. Thank you guys, its always nice to hear positive comments. Especially from other leather workers.
  5. Im sure you have seen plenty of holsters, but I thought I would share.
  6. Jess, I bought a Rabbit laser....before shipping, installation and training it was $6,400.00 for the model I got. So far they have been nothing but helpful from the beginning. I can't say enough good things about everyone there.
  7. Just beautiful! Thats all I can say....ART!
  8. When my daughter seen my macbook case, she wanted me to make her an iPad case. She is an english major, this has something to do with literature...... I don't know I just do what she tells me
  9. Thats true, I enjoy the design side of leather crafting. When I do the tooling its harder to get whats in my head out in the leather, but I guess thats true for most people. I got the laser to cut out patterns for my holsters. I wasn't even thinking about the engraving side of it. Now it has become a big part of my business and one of the things that sets me apart from the crowd.
  10. Thanks guys! Sometimes I feel like I am cheating. I just put it in the laser and it cuts it out and engraves it. All i do is sew it up and make the patterns. I am trying to look at like an art of a different kind......all of these guys do beautiful work tooling leather...well I can't do that but, I can work in adobe AI
  11. Thank you for the kind words. I guess i should have said something, it is laser engraved.
  12. Sometimes simple just works, to me, this just works. I got a Macbook Air, naturally it needed a case
  13. I don’t know which I prefer, but I do know both of them are beautiful. Nice work!
  14. I thought I would share a few of the latest holsters I have made. I feel like I still learn something new each time I make one. Firs up my latest......laser engraved and cut This one is mine The rest are orders for a few weeks back
  15. I use a Cobra 4 sewing machine from the leather machine company. It does it with no problem.
  16. I had not given the point any thought ,,,,,,,it will be gone on the next one, JimBob I have seen your work I doubt you have used a chainsaw on anything,,I am working on the belt slots,,,,I used a slot cutter on those and was less than impressed with the finished product.
  17. Glad you are having fun with it. I dont want to post a link but if you go to my website or youtube and search "stitch dex" I have done a build video. it might help on your next ones. Feel free to ask questions I am glad to help. The first one I made was UUUUUUUGLY!!
  18. First let me say thanks for the complements! I will not get into the whole leather vs Kydex, all I will say is they both have their positives and negatives. I make both and enjoy making all Leather holsters too. What I will say, is you said a whole lot for someone who admittedly doesn’t use Kydex. These are inside the waistband holsters …..I doubt you will stand behind me and rip anything off…As for sewing through the Kydex and the stitches breaking, I guess only time will tell. I have carried A Glock every day fo the past 10 years , and yes it shows holster wear, BUT it showed wear when I used an all leather holster. I wouldn’t put a pristine Colt Python in a Kydex holster but I wouldn’t be carrying a Python everyday, either. On the re-holstering....I dont think I have ever needed to RE-holster FAST, but still, on an inside the waistband holster the kydex makes it easier for me because it hold its shape. You did make a good point on carving the kydex, I will give you that one.
  19. Let me start this out with the normal disclaimer: Always go to the ATF and check for yourself. Now with that said I have investigated this exact question heavily in the past. What I found was, there are strict rules when it comes to receiving a firearm. To make a long story short, legally you cannot take someone’s gun into your possession unless you are a FFL. You need to log the gun in….yadda yadda.. the one exception I could find was if the owner of the firearm was there with you, you were good to go. I know that’s not what you wanted to hear (I felt the same way) and believe me I tried to find any loop hole. If you do find one please let me know. Edit>>>One of the big reasons I was told was, If you take that persons gun out and commit a crime OR he has committed a crime with that gun. so on and so on You can see it is a never ending trap!
  20. Here are a couple more off the bench this is a glock 26 customer wanted a single stitch around the form...I think I like this the best
