  1. The problem is not a skipped stitch, the problem is that the bottom thread won´t be pulled into the leather , so the top thread is visible on the bottom side when taing a sharp turn.
  2. I have had problems when sewing on my Boss: When making a sharp turn in a corner it won´t pull up the bottom thread into the material. ? Any suggenstions on what I am doing wrong??
  3. Hello from Sweden. I buy saddle trees and saddlery hardware from the US, and I always have it shipped by FedEx. I have used UPS once and I felt like being robbed on the street.
  4. Barbour makes a bonded nylon thread of good quality
  5. A hacksaw seems to be an alternative to see what´s below the surface . ( costs one snap, but you´ll know for sure if it is brass or zink)
  6. Hej du TomSwede! Jag registrerade mej igår och säger välkommen, här finns tydligen mycket att hämta. var bor du? mvh/ knut
  7. Thank you all ! for ar warm and friendly greeting!
  8. Here is a pic of an old timey saddle I made for a customer in Finland. It is built on a Bowden tree using Swedish leather from Tärnsjö tannery. A half seat saddle with a Sam Stag rigging.
  9. My name is Knut. I´m a retired captain, Swedish Army. I´m interested in all kinds of leatherwork and I operate a small saddlery business. My big interest is old time western saddles, trail riding and , of course, moose- and deer hunting. ( we have a lot of moose in Sweden). I have been making western saddles since 1992. I teach western saddle making classes in Tärnsjö saddlery school each year. I´m looking forward to share all your knowledge and hints, and hopefullt contribute with all I can. Good to be here!
  10. My experience of the Boss is that the old model, cast iron frame with steel inner parts, is a lot better than the "upgraded" model with aluminium frame and zink inner parts. I have had 2 alu. frame that have broken down , then I bought a used iron frame Boss that runs like a clockwork from the first day. I repaired the first two machines and sold them. So my suggestion to a Boss buyer is: Find a used iron frame Boss . a much better machine than the "upgraded version". Also, there is much to be desired about the way Tippmanns help their customers in need. At least they could reply your emails ??
