  1. This is the long arm BUSM#2 housing the complete shuttle. It will never be restored to concours condition as it too survived a fire at it's Owaka Wool shed home.. complete with sooty remnants still in it's nooks and crannies. No signs of frostbite or wind damage..lol! (I haven't been back to Owaka for 20 years ..Riverton was bad enough ..even colder than minus 15 deg C blast in Denver)
  2. aaah... now I remember... BUSM #2 Shuttles compared..but they both work.. the extra outer piece seen is non adjustable.. hardly a tension spring per se.. I have seen a few #2 shuttles over the last decade or so and all are missing this piece
  3. Threading you have is correct... pretty much standard for these shuttle types... can't recall why I left mine this way ... At the day job ..will post inner photos later tonight... There was one thing I did spot this morning (remnants of a fitting - not quite sure ) and I will compare against the other #2 shuttle I have.
  4. Shuttles are different... BUSM#2 smaller and no inner tensioning spring
  5. Circa 1899 onwards.. Serial number not date related (afaik).. There is quite an amount of info on this forum to wade through..lol!
  6. Looks legit... Had a search .. couldn't find the date info .. there are a few here that have more info than I do ... see if someone can contribute
  7. On the flywheel near the handle.. And also on the head above the needle arm
  8. Can't recall ... There might be info on this forum..think someone did pinpoint the dates via the serial number ... Might take a while to search through the forum.. hopefully someone will chime in.
  9. BUSM #6 (or HM6) Early British United model when they started producing the Pearson .. Quite a few parts missing which can be expensive (or not available at all) or time consuming to recreate.. I have 3 x BUSM #6's and 1 x Pearson #6 (also worse for wear but still reasonably complete..be a labour of love to restore..the table is sagging! - real strange! )
  10. BUSM#2.. regular arm length (could be a BUSM#1 .. literature is vague at best)..also take a look at my albums in this forum ..shows restoration of this one pictured...I also have a BUSM #2 long arm I just pass the thread through respective holes to get the right tension.. hadn't considered thickness sewn..may impact as well.
