Coho, thanks for the feedback. The face is just hand painted with brushes using Fieblings leather dye diluted with solvent. I coated the face and circle with neat lac. Then I dyed background with a dauber using Beige Fieblings dye. I then airbrushed the edges with dark brown and rubbed it with wax. Still experimenting with coloring leather but I really like the Fieblings alcohol based dyes.

Sketched out a drawing referenced from a painting by Chris Achilleos. Made some changes to make it more carving friendly. Several hours of work already in it. -

I found a piece of leather in a plastic bag that I had been casing and then forgot about. It had been about a week and a half so I used it to practice some floral carving and dyeing. -

From the album: Some of my work
Sketched it out from a painting I saw on internet (couldn't find artist's name to credit). Made some changes to make it work better for leather. About 3 hours to carve. -

Thanks, joet, that's really nice of you. There is some amazing talent on here that I hope to learn from. Also, if anyone is interested, I used an old Craftool F119 for the hair. I don't reall care for the hairtool with blades that is often recommended.
