  1. hi Alsopp, Thank you for those. I'll try them out.
  2. It looks like this one. I'll check when I'm in the workshop, and get back to you! Thanks.
  3. I've been using veg tan leather which is c. 5-5.5mm thick, and have been happy with Clayton- Spire Leather for the last 10 years. Very sadly, they went bust a while ago, and I am still looking for a replacement supplier I have samples from Thomas Ware (Perfect, but a little thinner than I wanted) and FJF Baker. Again, beautiful, but this is much harder than I need: as its for its sound quality - so needs to be soft. Any other recommendations of tanners to try? Ideally in the UK, but am open to other ideas if I can't source anything here. Thank you!
  4. Has anyone in the UK had their Singer 29K restored successfully? I have an old one that I'd love to use, but it needs some work. I'd love some recommendations if you have any. Thanks, Emma
  5. hi all, I'm a bow and leather mute maker based in London, and am looking for someone to help me make the leather mutes. I'm running out of time to to do it all myself! I'm new to employing other people, so would be great to have some advice on the topic (things you've learnt from employing others, as well as current figures of what you pay other people who help you!) If anyone is looking for some part time work, please get in touch. Thank you!!
  6. Thank you for your advice, I’ll try that out.
  7. hi all, I would like to ask your opinion. I have been making leather mutes, out of heavy leather (from veg tan doglead butt leather) and using glue from Tandy (the ecoweld)- gluing the two pieeces together. The seam is in the middle, gluing two pieces together. I follow the instruction, use a mallet on it afterwards, and then leave it under pressure for 24 hours. But sometimes the glue fails. I have just had a batch do this. And I have no idea why. Is there a limit to how long it lasts once open? I was wondering if anyone else had had similar problems, or has an idea of what it can be? Thank you in advance.
