  1. I don't sew with Fil au chinois, but I do use round linen thread in 0.6 mm; First I run the ends of the thread in beeswax to give it a bit more firmness, then I pierce it with my needle about 5 cm of the end, then maybe 1,5cm further a second time, I put the end of the thread through the eye of the needle, pull it until the first pierced area get in the eye, and then pull the rest of the thread down. If it doesn't hold good I rub it a second time with beeswax and here you go, ready to sew. Hope this helps.
  2. Thank you for your reply. I googled it since I didn't know what kind of thread it is. It seems it's used on boat ? Is it waxed or do you have to wax it yourself ? The thickness of the thread isn't writen either
  3. Hi, I am stitching leather with Campbell's linen thread but got tired of it. I'd prefer something I can burn with a lighter once my stitching line is over so I don't have to do all these tricky things to get the job done and the thread secure. What kind of synthetic thread are you using ? I saw ritza 25 (tiger thread) but it's veeeeery expensive and I can't afford it. I also saw maine thread which seems good but I'd like to see if there is other brands available. I'd prefere a thin thread as I'm mainly doing wallets and small stuff. 0,6 - 0,5mm or something. Thank you !
  4. You're right Thor, I haven't look close enough, thank you !
  5. Hi, I've seen a bag design I really like but can't figure out how the gussets are made. Here are some photos, maybe you can help me ?
  6. Thank you very much. I thought the leather would be colored black/grey while using black antique finish, that's good to know ! Love the effect
  7. Amazing work ! What are you using to obtain this "dark" almost black effect on your tooling marks and cuts ?
  8. Pangolins are way too cute to finish as a holster! Love them. It still looks interesting, nice holster.
  9. Nope, he's having a leash like that The collar is just esthetic and to say the dog has an owner.
  10. Hi, This is my first leatherwork, a collar for my dog. Leather strap is 3mm thick veg tanned leather dyed with vinegaroon, lining is sheep leather 1,2mm thick, veg tanned and already dyed fawn when bought. It is handstitched. I'm aware to advices and critique.
