  1. Thanks. It was a pleasant surprise. Tan paste would probably look just as good with the blue
  2. Twelve inch diameter, 4-5 oz leather.
  3. Tandy's sling kit made it easy and just used the included oak leaf pattern. the boot was a different story. the rifle is a 45-70 with 225 grain cartridges. Man those puppies are big and heavy. No problem bringing down a grizzly or a bull moose! Bit of a learning curve since this was my first boot. The geometric pattern I saw somewhere and the customer liked it too so I just had to give it a try.
  4. Tweaked the pattern here and there, changed the flowers and decided to try some blue dye and British Tan highlight paste. Turned out not to be a bad combination. Just need to finish the blue dy on the rest of the background.
  5. Thanks, Rohn. I picked up a three pack of thin 12" wood disks for backing and attached a 1/2' "x 1/2" x 6" frame to the back to accommodate the mechanism. Both from Hobby Lobby. the leather work was harder than the staining and final assembly of the wooden parts. Go for it!
  6. Had a wild hair a while back and started collecting images for making Christmas Ornaments. In retrospect, a simple polished edge would have been a whole lot easier than all that braiding and still sell 'em like hotcakes.
  7. I think I'll be making a few more of these with different designs.
  8. Going on an Alaskan cruise with my main squeeze at the end of may so we needed these.
  9. Super simple running border but those tiny oak leaves were a real challenge.
  10. Ribbon - 7-8 oz leather, 2 coats of Neat-lac on the ribbon with 8 hours cure time on each coat, light brown dye outside, tan antique paste on the inside. Barbed Wire - 7-8 oz leather, tan antique paste, waited a few hours and went over it again with dark brown antique paste. Border only - 7-8 oz leather, 1 coat Neat-lac on border and parts of logo, mahogany antique paste over all.
  11. I just carefully traced the letters from printing on vellum. they are about 3/4" tall so it was very tedius steep beveling and smoothing with a stylus tool. Hand painted with dye (I'll use acrylic paint next time) with a "two hair" brush. Labor of love! $275 made it worth the efort.
  12. Thanks. It's 12" for a stool cover. Picked the stool up off the curb and refurbished it. Just need to tack it on. the design can easily be scaled down and used for the center of a clock face. Hmmmmmm, I think I just added another project to my ever growing list.
  13. Absolutely! I'll be more than happy to pay the shipping. Tell me what I need to do.
  14. I think you're right. Just an expression I use for a craft booth.
  15. Trying to make a lot of sample projects for show & tell. Got about twelve others on the drawing board.
  16. Fredk - Yes, I sew them on to the top of the bill and add my LOGO patch to the front of the hat itself.
  17. Here are a few more designs. The desert one was more of a doodle that I converted to fit.
