  1. I just had the same problem with Angelus black dye. Try giving your leather a light coat of oil and let dry overnight. The leather excepted the dye better, but I still had to buff off a lot of pigment. Their black dye is really black.Hope this will work for you. Jim
  2. I see this is a old post but a good one. I just purchased a knife from Terry Knipschield and I love the knife. I am a new comer to the leather world, I didn't want to spend a lot of money on tools. I started out with box cutters then went up to Tandy's Al Stoleman's round knife. When I got the French blade one Terry made I couldn't believe the difference between the two. It the same with stamps and all the other tools I purchased, like most things you do get what you pay fore. The thing with the knife is, it is not that much more, what you get is a whole lot more. Look at that beautiful thing. If your logged in, thank you Terry. Jim
  3. By the way, the Round Knife that I posted above from Terry Knipschleid is his French blade. If you notice, one side of the blade is longer then the other. It is like having two knifes in one. The longer side is great for stright cuts, the shorter side for cutting out patterns. If anyone is interested contact Terry, he is very informative, great guy, will tell you everything you need to know. He has a large selection of knives, all kinds. Jim
  4. I just purchased a knife from Terry Knipschield, it arrived today. If you held this knife in your hand for just a minute, you would fall in love. I feel it is much safer then a straight knife. You don't have to apply hardly any pressure to slice through 9 oz leather. This knife is like no other tool I have ever used for cutting leather. I don't know much about leather tools, I can tell you this. I can't imagine a knife that can work any better then this one.
  5. Great Job, That cut looks very clean. Good work. Jim
  6. Hi Tinker, I am going to do what you suggested, not the brick on my bumper, the Chicago screw with locktite, not sure if I spelled it right. Home Depot has it $6. Thank you, Tinker
  7. Look at the post above yours www.theclip.com/store/home.php Boriqua posted it. They have all type of swivel clips, not the one I was looking for.
  8. Thank you Tinker LOL I was going to try the tread lock. My other problem is, I am mounting a pin pointer to a digging knife holster. The pin pointer is used in metal detecting and is very top heavy. The last one I made was spinning upside down. If the Chicago screw has to much spin the same thing will happen.
  9. The folks from theclip.com told me they are working on something called a ratchet clip. It sounds good but won't be out for a while. Jim
  10. Thank you for the site information Alex. You are right about sparking my imagination. I will have to buy every thing that looks like it might work. They have a few nice swivel clips, and a thing they call a tab. I might be able to do something with that, only fifty cents. Thanks Alex
  11. I was going to try the Chicago screw, I was worried about the screw coming out. I also was going to do the copper rivet deal, I don't like the looks. There has to be something on the market that looks good and functions well. Jim
  12. I am looking for the same thing. I was going to try a chicago screw, I am worried that the screw will come out. Jim
  13. I am back to the beginning again. The holster I posted above is not working like I would like it to. The swivel clip is to lose, it swivels completely around. I need something that will only move when you want it to. Anybody with a suggestion? Jim
  14. I tried it on a piece of scrap and it seemed to dry out the leather to much. There are a lot of other chemicals in it,Why take a chance, buy some oxalic acid from one of the leather sites or on line. Jim
