  1. I saw this video and it seems like it would be pretty easy to make a pattern. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqn_riEIFBw
  2. If it is veg tanned, then there are a few methods of hardening the leather. Here is a site that explains the whole process much better than I ever could. http://personal.utulsa.edu/~marc-carlson/leather/hl.html
  3. Indiana, you mean for the ink to transfer from the plastic to the leather? Use transparency film(plastic). Trace on it and it will hold the scribe almost as well as craft aids. Instead of printing on paper, load your transparency film in the printer tray. You can print directly on the transparency film with your printer. Then trace with stylus onto leather. Hope that makes more sense.
  4. Try , Warm water and Comet also keep everything wet don't scrub too hard Had some luck with some industrial hand cleaner. Works very well at getting Fiebings black oil based stain out of cream colored leather. Bad experience!!!! Good luck.
  5. at the state fair last year i bought a cranked belt for around $15. What really surprised me was I just bought a plain 10-12oz belt from wal-mart for $19. I hope this helps. But you could also offer Custom Created Belts for $$$. Maybe some other Handcrafted, Personalized items, specialties, etc..
  6. That's just around the corner from me. Awesome. I would love to meet up with any of you skilled leather folks. I am learning so much from this site. Thank you all very much.
  7. I was told by a friend that to make a reusable craftaid. Use overhead projector stock (clear plastic like your school teacher used) trace your pattern into the plastic. Should be able to print directly onto itsince it is available in printer paper section. Check your printer manual. I have been meaning to try it. Let me know if this helps or works.
  8. I am still new to leather working. This site has just blown me away with all of the great info. I am trying to make the best choices for tools that will benefit me the most over my lifetime. Just curious what everyone recommends tools and brands. I still use mostly Tandy tools.
