Kathy,
Very elegant work, and a great compliment to the pistol!
Good luck in the competition,

Roo,
Nice mask! I also was thinking Medusa when I first saw the pic.
I also like the color, but then again, I am partial to darker colors and mythalogical creatures.

Google the following,
leather manufacturers yoakum texas
then click the local business link at the top.
There are quite a few manufatures in Yoakum, if they cannot do the job, they may point you in the right direction.

I bought the leather just the way you see it on ebay.
The seller in "pennyfabrics" from North Carolina.
They seem to have a lot of furniture leather remnants of varying patterns and colors. You just have to watch out for the sizes that they bundle together.
one ending tonight

Nice flip flop.
Another idea for tire tread sole could be bicycle inner tube or you could put a layer of black rtv silicone on the bottom and form tire treads in it while it is drying. Could also cut in the tread design when it hardens.

cool first. What are the puzzles for?Spider,
Thanks. (The second will be better.)
This is an Autism Awareness Ribbon. The puzzle pieces represent what autism is to most Doctors, a puzzle.
My son is autistic, so this has special meaning to me.

Crystal / Storm,
Thanks, the Eco dyes are another lesson I am trying to learn. The colors seem to opaque after mutiple coatings, but I will figure it out or try something different.

Scouter,
Very nice wallet and lacing! I have always been partial to deer scences and fine job on the coloring of the deer.
On your next one, (on the corners) instead of going through the one corner hole three times, try going through each of the
"three holes" at the corner two times each.

Tom,
Awesome case!! Are you going to start building custom Fly Rods to go with the cases??

Thanks again,

Looking good Colman! Figures is not easy so keep it going and you'll get there. Don't know what he's toes are supposed to look like but seems ok to me with this one. Beveling between he's toe and body is a bit tight so in areas like that I usually go light and work it more with the modelling tool, nowadays I mostly use checkered bevels and with those I go lightly with my smallest pearshaped checkered backgrounder for tight areas, sometimes tilting it to reach in and sometimes using modeling spoon before.Tom
Tom,
Thanks for the pointers. I am going to have to get some more "figure stamps" to reach those tight areas. I will have to scan the orginal pic for compaison.

Another family member, Mom was in need of a new checkbook cover. Since she collects frogs and it was her birthday, I figured this was the best gift.
The frog pic originated from an Audubon field guide book.
The opposite side was western floral and her initials, which were showing when she opened the box, she was really suprised when she finally looked at the other side.
I do have to practice a lot more on the frogs toes, but Mom was happy with her bday gift.

I have a piece that I finished carving, I am wanting to reoil (lightly) and also paint part of it with acrylic paint.
Will the acrylics adhere to the reoiled leather or do I need to not oil this area?
Any help would be appreciated before I proceed.
