Now THAT is newbie friendly! As a side note, though, I've had pretty decent luck perusing the "Getting Started" subforum as well. It's probably not as user friendly for finding something very specific, but for generally getting into the craft, it's been quite helpful. There are wallet patterns (and other basic patterns) in there, although I haven't tried looking for the specific style mentioned by the OP.

Screwed It Up -- Now What To Do With It?
KrisbeeKream replied to tnhomestead's topic in Getting Started
As a newbie myself, I totally understand the pain. Even cheap leather stops being cheap when the mistakes are big enough! But the upside is lots of leather scraps. I have more than I know what to do with now. I've used my scrap bag for various straps, and I've been looking at small projects as well. There are some cool scrap projects on the pattern subforum. The cell phone stand keychain on the first page is easy as hell and uses up pretty small scraps. -
I'm new to the forum as well, new to leatherworking, and I don't use forums very much anyway. I have to admit, I've had some trouble navigating this site as well. It's difficult to know what to search for when you're not even familiar with some of the basic terminology. Perhaps posts like these should simply be directed to a newcomer-friendly sub-forum?

Can't Make My Own Pony, Where To Find?
KrisbeeKream replied to KrisbeeKream's topic in Sewing Leather
Thanks for the advice. I ended up following it and picking up the tandy model. There are a couple of issues with it, but they're pretty minor. There's less hardware provided than is even on the instructions, but it still assembles. It also grips pretty tight, so even with the extra leather I added to the jaws I'll have to be careful. But considering I was able to drive a couple of miles and get myself something at all when I had nothing, I'm calling it a win! -
The title should sum it up. I don't have tools, experience, or space to construct my own stitching pony, so I've been looking for pre-made. There's a Tandy about a mile from my house (lucky me!) but their pony has some pretty terrible reviews. Does anyone have some recommendations?

One Of The Coolest Keyrings I've Ever Seen
KrisbeeKream replied to tboyce's topic in Patterns and Templates
All of the scraps I have on hand right now are from 7 oz or higher leather. Any ideas on how this pattern could be modified to accommodate a thicker leather? Regardless, I'm going to try it even though it will undoubtedly be too stiff. It's too cool not to!
