  1. I could tell you a way to make one with round stock, drill press and drill vise, cutting torch and a some quenching oil, but the easiest is call Bob Douglas Tools and for $20-$30 you can get a real nice one made of tool steel. Andy Stevens

  8. It depends on the grade and weight of the skirting if it is D grade $160.00 is high and if it is #2 its cheap assuming it is 13/15 oz. Also find out the drop thru the shoulder and if it is clean.
  9. Very clean and flows very well, also a good job on the layout. Andy Stevens

    Tapadero Lamp

Bob, I hate to say this but the pictures just don't do this piece justice. I was able to see this piece up close and personal yesterday and you dun did a fine job on every phase of this piece. I do believe it was worth every Kojack moment you told me about over the phone when you where building this project. The only person that will give a little fuss over this will be Keith and he'll want to know the braided edge is at. Happy Trails and we will see you next week Andy
  11. Looks good Tom, but aren't you a little to big for one of these? Andy
  12. The interior is open no dividers with a series of different sized pockets on the side sewn to the liner this was all done according to the clients needs.

  22. Welcome, glad to some others in the area hacking on the dead steers. Good looking shop, all that room has a way of disappearing quick.
  23. This is my process when I sew in gussets whether they are round or square corners. First I make my gusset pattern a 1/2" wider so I have plenty of over lap. Then I rough the area that I will be gluing then I apply a coat of Barge Cement and let it dry then I apply a second coat of Barge and let it get a dry tacky feel to it, then I start to install the gusset being double barged it will stay in place thru a hurricane or a tough sewing job. As soon as I'm done installing I go to sewing it and I use a Adler 205-370 with just a round plate and this works great for me.
  24. A leather sizing belt is a great idea I have been using one for several years one thing a person needs to do a couple time a year is make sure it hasn't stretched and the sizes aren't true, I usually have to make a new one every couple of years. When taking orders over the phone or via the internet I ask them to use a tailors measuring tape and run it through their belt to get their size and from that number you need to know what they are planning on using for a buckle and have them measure the hook or end of the tongue to the bar (where the belt wraps around) and subtract that number from the waist measurement and from that you have the your belt size.

    String cutter

Hansen stringers are great and Gail Hought makes a really good one I have both and use each one of the them for different strings. The Hought does not have the splitter but has 45 and 33 angles and the Hansen has a splitter.
