  1. Could a moderator please move the thread to Leather Sewing Machines?
  2. Hi! Im looking out for used machines in Argentina and I would like to ask for some guidance. I mainly do leather backpacks but also wallets and bags. Is the adler 69 too heavy duty for my needs? I dont use very thick leather. Both machines are german made but are they both popular enough to not have problems finding replacements? Thanks in advance
  3. But the Adler 67 is a flatbed cant do my backpacks with it. Pfaff 335 looks amazing, with a nice flatbed attachment should work. Pfaff doesnt seem like a chinese brand. I was looking at the Cowboy 227r. Would you recommend spending more for a not-chinese machine?
  4. Thank you Sheila glad you liked it you can check out my other products at instagram @mezzileather Im looking at the Cowboy 227r. Who could I ask about a flatbed attachment?
  5. Hi! Ive been checking out sewing machines for a couple of weeks now. I have found out that for a variety of work you actually need more than one machine if you intend on working efficiently. I was wondering if its possible to buy a cylinder arm compound feed machine with a flat bed addon to obtain the benefits of both types of machines. I do handtooled wallets and backpacks mainly so cylinder arm would be great for backpacks and the flatbed addon for the wallets. Cobra has some nice flatbed adjustments for their machines but ive been told the Class 4 and 3 are heavy duty and will tear up my leather. I use veg tanned but none of my work is very thick since I skive the edges so no heavy duty required. Thanks for your time reading this your counsel is very much appreciated PD: what happened to all the beatiful classic sewing machines? How come they became so techy and ugly
  6. Aniline dyed leather is my favourite. You can clear a white background stain that you just cant make with regular dyes I attach some of my work
  7. Any moderator can delete the thread please? Machine not gonna work for me. Im gonna make a post about some that would work.
  8. Thanks for your response! Been up all night reading. Will check out compound feed machines today
  9. Greetings fellow leathercrafters! Thanks in advance for taking your time to spare some much appreciated knowledge! Been tooling veg tanned leather for almost 5 years and im ready to start stitching! I love the idea of hand cranking a machine to sew, thats what I enjoy the most of this craft. I came upon a Adler 30-5 on working condition and not rusted. Ive read that these are shoe making sewing machines, im mostly interested in stitching wallets and backpacks (pics of my work attached). The price is around 750$ for the machine. Ive been told by my friend its a bargain. Im here for your insights regarding price of the machine. 1. Will it work for my purpose or will it be considerably more cumbersome than a Cobra. As I said I love the handworked part of the craft, I tool with a wrist brace and a light maul to care for my hands. I also use a gyroscope ball for 2 minutes before and after tooling. Very good to get some blood flow and avoid carpal tunnel 2. Spare parts I read, are hard to come by. The person that said it was a bargain also said that the spare parts are made locally. 3. Im would locate the machine inside my showroom. I would like to repaint it in shiny black for cosmetic reasons. Would this affect longevity of the machine? Thanks again for taking your time reading through this. Whenever I find a moment I will make a post showing of my work and my story! Cant upload pics on the phone. Will post from PC. Gracian
  10. Jesus Christ it works like a charm. Solution was sitting right in front of me. God bless you and all your family Dwight you've made 6 hour long painting sessions unbelievably shorter. Words can't describe how grateful I am
  11. Dwight, I use resolenear to finish my work and I love the product. Never it ocurre to me to use it as a base. I'm trying it out now will let you know how it goes
  12. Thanks for the tip Chain and glad you liked our work kiwi can. I can only find acrylic sealers in spray this is not good because I don't paint all of the leather only where my designs reach.
