Thank you kindly, I am now planning some matching hat bands in the same braid. -

I do enjoy tying knots but still need to look at the book to tie the long knots. I am self taught with the use of a couple of Bruce Grant books and recently Enrique Capone books. One day I hope to get game enough to tackle rawhide......old age might beat me though! -

Hi The braid to build the hatband is not difficult. It is a round braid of 4 laces doubled back on itself. I screw lacing needles on the left hand laces as the left hand laces are threaded through the adjacent round braid as per photo. The round braid continues as normal but with the left hand top lace threaded through before working the round braid. In the above hat band, I braided the red inner first then went around the outside with a navy lace, braiding it in to the adjacent braid all the way. Probably as clear as mud but easy to see when you have a go yourself. -

Oh ok. It is not difficult just tedious. I will try to take some photos with a description. Thanks Joy -

I am still trying to work out how to use this site. Thought your name might have been a give away. I just might call in as I don't know too many others who work leather. I am a hobby leather worker. I do some practical work when something breaks but other wise decorative braids for the fun of it. Trying to find a decent red hide at the moment. Might try Packers. Where do you get your leather? -

This is a hat band which I have made. It is for a ladies hat so colours are quite vivid. Made from 2mm kangaroo lace.
