    sides for sale

how would they be for watch straps , do they fold well? cory
  3. i just received some 4-6oz black veg tanned shoulder from zack white which i was hoping to use for making watch straps. i haven't found decent leather for lining ithem so i just use 1 piece folded over, but i found this just a bit stiff to use and lso noticed it cracked alot when folded. is there a product i could apply to make it a bit softer and also fixing the cracking problem. i still kinda new to leather but they had mentioned that this was there last hide , if this was older stock could that explain the stiffness and cracking? cory
  4. still available 20 square foot of black chrome tanned 4-6 oz . make me an offer. e-mail coryp@vianet.ca if you need pics. i have some 7-8oz soft yelllow buffalo. some pigskin lining leather. and some 2oz tooling calf. pigskin and calf were from tandy and the black crhomed tanned from zack white. the buffalo was from e-bay cory
  5. 1 last question do you ship to canada , if not do you have a canadian distributor for this product? cory
  6. how do i go about placing an order for these if they are not on the website. cory
  7. my problem is i can't the original even , do you use house hold items for you rounded edge not circles or sqaures but in between stuff. cory
  8. this might seem simple to some of you but how to cut shapes and make them symetrical. like a bund pad for watch strap or irregular edges but both sides are the same . same for stitches if i need to lay out an irregular pattern how do i go about it, so i can repeat it . cory if my questions makes no sense let me know hehe
  9. i ran a groover but i am never sure how deep to run it , do you run it deeper for thicker trhead and less for lighter? since the color is different where i run the groover , if i dye it to match i am afraid it will bleed into the thread, but undyed i am afraid the groove will show. cory
  10. is there a suplier out there that offers these in sizes 277 and up in multiple colors. other than brown/black/white. and jsut a questiona bout these do you have to waxed them before using and can they be dyed? cory
  11. i agree with the thread it should dip into the holes a bit more. no matter what size hole i use it ends up like this , it might be the way i am tightening the knot, more left hand than irght or and wrong angles, again not sure. i would prefer they dip tino the holes as well. for hole spacing i used a 7per inch overstitch wheel. i will work on the technique a little it might jsut be that. i am using a spacer on my awl it works great my hole are much more consistent. thanks guys cory
  12. i was wondering if you could use the speedy sticher without the thread jsut to make our holes for hand stitching? sometimes i don't want to have an angle to the thread would the hole be big enough smaller threads? cory
  13. cool thanks now is there something else i should be using on my watch straps to either protect the edge kote or finish? cory
  14. if i am using hides that are factory finished and then coating the edges with edge kote/lci/edge inks do i need to then use supper sheen or similar products? or is it mostly used on home dyed/finsied leather cory
  15. did some searching on bridle leather but didn;t find anything in the 5-6oz area i could use a bit heavier leather and line it with calf i guess instead of doubling to get the thickness cory
  16. this was oil tanned hide from zack white, its really nice , i am not exactl sure what bridle lether is though. and bree i planned on doing that but i find sewing this leather in a single layer it buckles at the edge a bit. it seems to soft when not doubled up. and thanks for comments guys, i wasn't sure if my holes might be a bit big for the thread. goign to try and file down my awl a bit till i can get a peter maine or bob douglas 1.
  17. i have never held another hand sewn peice of anything and having a hard time figuring if my finished products are acceptable. have a look , let me know what i could do to make them better or are they ok grooved/channel/ozbourne awl/ 7stitch per spacing used. thanks cory
  18. yeah i dyed the edges but do i jsut leave them like that or do i slick them and then use an edge ink/paint/kote , it is a folded piece so would like as muhc as possible not to see the line where both pieces meet. cory
  19. i have read every thread on leather brunishing/slicking etc.. but i am have problems with some chromed tanned black , it has that annoying layer of white stuff and keeps me from getting a nice edge. does anybody have a tip or product they use only on chromed tanned edges thanks cory
  20. i wasn't sure where to post this or if its against the rules.i just did not wnat to have to deal wth ebay. i recently bought some 4-6 oz oiled tanned hide from zack white but its not the same as brown i had ordered from them i think its chromed tan. i have about 20square but its not exactly what i was looking for it cost 80us+40 shipping i was looking to sell it for about 55us + actual shipping, email me at coryp@vianet.ca if you are interested in the whole or part of it i also have few other leathers i won't be using , few pigskin lining leathers. i would be willing to ship out some samples to anybody interested. cory

    thread

i am looking for some thread i have tried royalwood irish linen, its nice but expensive in the thickneses i want. i have tried mainethread's polyester wxed cord prices seem good and sizes are bigger but i was wondering if anybody knew another supplier or multicolored threads in the 0.035 0.040" size cory
  22. i just recieved an order from royalwood i ordered the 3ply, the same size i had ordered from mainethread.com but it was much smaller than the maine 3ply almost need the 7ply to equal maines 3 ply. mainthread is not lineni it is polyester. but i figured i would mention in case you had used maintrhead before. cory
  23. when using white thread it sometimes looks dirty or picks up some of the dye is there a way to clean it up and make it bright again cory
