  1. How do you dye over painted letters? Do you need to put something on the paint to protect it? I am working on a belt that I am using Charlie's for two colors and white paint for the third color. The I am dying the built black.
  2. I feel stupid asking this , but is has been a while since I have done any basket weave stamping. There are basket weave stamps that are angled on the ends and then straight ones. How do you use the angle ones? Are they use like the straight ones and they just give a different look?
  3. In a belt making book I have, it shows a craft tool 8078 edge cutter used to march or cut a boarder edge. I can't find it online so I am assuming this is an old tool not made anymore. What are others using to replace it?
  4. Looking for help/suggestions on coloring/highlighting stamped letters/name on belts and other projects. Do you stamp before dying or afterwards. I have done some but just want to see maybe there are better ways to do it
  5. Is there advantages to lining holsters and belts or is it just mostly for looks? Is there a leather to use that allows actual storing your gun In? I have lined some holsters but don't know if I used the right leather. Haven't lined belts because I do all my stitching by hand and it would take forever.
  6. Dwight how are you applying it? I apply 8t with a damp sponge and it removes the die. Antiques I find to be worst.
  7. I have Had it remove so much it changed the color totally and down to the leather especially when using antique gels. Am I applying it wrong?
  8. What is your favorite leather protective covering? How do you apply it? I like Resoline or super Sheene. But when I apply them they remove some of the dye. Sometimes almost completely. Is this Norma? I have tried using air brush but I have not been able to get any of ,y three air brushes to spray.

  10. I am working on a rifle scabbards. I want to apply saddle tan antique gel. What is the best way? Do you apply to the whole project at one time then wipe it down or do you apply it a section at a time then wipe? What is the best thing to use to apply?

  12. Anybody here using a 12 ton press to emboss leather? How do you know how much pressure to apply and how do you make sure you can apply that pressure ever time?

  14. I am wanting to spay leather dyes and sealers. I started with just sealers using air brushes but they quit spraying. I had someone tell me they use big spray guns. I was wondering what others are using. What is the best?

  17. Even though I have been working with leather for while, I still struggle with beveling. Is there a secret to being able to move the beveler along smoothly while tapping on it to get a smooth bevel?
  18. Yes it were their current pants. I was using belt blanks from Tandy's I think they are like 6 or 7oz. They came up around 4 inches too short. So I am working on a belt now for myself. Where should I measure from on the old belt?
  19. I had their pant waist size and 4 inches to that from the buckle to the center hole. Am I missing some measurement? I want to start making more belts but been afraid to.

  21. I need a nice belt bag for my Santa belt to carry small trinkets to give kids. Anyone have a nice pattern?
  22. I followed your instructions on three different belts and they all were too short. What did I do wrong?
  23. Do leather dyes get old and not work as good? I was applying a dye I have had for awhile and it didn't seem to go on very well.
