  1. Hi Luis Paulo, Another guy from Brasil. GREAT! I´m thinking about one tool box for my bike, and I found the same problem. Storm gave us a great sugestion for the lock system, but I´m figure out another problem and another solution. Ok, with this system, you'll lock the bag, but one problem stills, the leather straps that hold the bag on the bike. Some stupid always can cut the straps... I find this solution:you change the leather straps for some clamps and bolts. Here is the link: http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?t=71367&highlight=tool+bag+clamps. . Feel free to add me in your MSN: amaral_x@hotmail.com. Storm: Great to know that you know portuguese. Where are you from?
  2. Hello Folks, There are some pictures of the second seat I made. This is for a softail, and I use the vinegaroon to black it.
  3. Congratulations Dave. Well deserved. I´m a big fan of your work!
  4. Nice and smooth Dave. I can´t wait to see it´s done.
  5. Dave, I´d like to ask you a question about the patterns: In the bottom one, how much you left off the seat pan? And in the Top One, when you trace that, you go straight to the end of the padding and the beginning of the border of the seat pan? Thanks for any information you can offer.
  6. Busted, Do you any pics that you could share about the inner tube assembly? Awesome job man. Thanks Amaral
  7. Busted, Could you send me a picture of the step by step of this inner tube seat?
  8. Roger, Good afternoon, I dig up this topic to ask you how far the seat darkened with the sun exposure? Thank you Amaral
  9. Dave, Thank you! I already have the fiebing´s antique gel. I will order the dyes.
  10. You help a lot. Since I'n a newbie, Tandy´s stuff was my first option. I will try some spirit base staining this time. Could you give me any sugestions or tips about these products (high lights, dyes, antiques and etc...?). I live in Brazil, but I can get almost everything from the USA. Thanks for your time and atention.
  11. Dave, I dig this topic, and I'd like to ask you a question. On the seat I was working on, I finish the toling, and use the following products (in this order): Hi-Lite Stain Saddle Tan; Saddle Tan Gel Antique; Mink Oil, Fiebing's Leather Balm with Atom Wax. What I notice is that the mink oil really darkened the entire project, turning uselles all the high lights doned. My questions are: 1) Do lexol has the same effect (darkening the leather)? 2) The Atom wax doesn´t really waterproof the leather, I will try Pecard´s Leather Dressing. Is it a good choice? Thanks for all the help that you can offer.
  12. Hello Folks, My name is Rodrigo Amaral, I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. I get interested in leather carving, when I was researching some ideas for my bike, and finded amazing sites. I´m have a little time to do my stuffs, because of my day job, family, e etc... I´m a trully adept to Do It Myself, and started to learn about the tools and everything. I hope that I can count with your precious advices in the future, since it is a very rare art in Brasil (some folks, in the south and country side, do some jobs, but nothing in the big cities). I posted pics of my first job on the Critique My Work section. Nice forum, nice people. I think that I find the right place.
