  1. Special request from a fellow vet. Not something I would normally be interested in but it was interesting.
  2. Wow! That's a lot more work than I was thinking!! Do you ever offer them for sale?
  3. Even better idea! I have access to a high end bandsaw. Wife owns a hardware store
  4. Hmmmm I didn't think of that. I have the punch sets with the interchangeable tips so a sacrifice might be in order. Thank you!!
  5. Can anyone here please tell me what tool was used to do these edges? Thank you in advance as I'm not keen on doing it with a knife!
  6. I'm working on it I promise! Ran into an issue with oil staining I'm trying to sort out
  7. I'm tempted to hit it with neatsfoot but I don't wanna make a bad situation worse! Thank you btw, the bull was by far the most fun to do haha I was reading earlier about using talcum powder or something similar to do that as well
  8. So I've got about 10 hours into this 14 inch stool top. After tooling I used olive oil to wipe it down and spilled some on the center pouring it in my rag (microfibers don't like oil apparently). I continued on the dying process thinking well it will go away eventually. Here it is 4 days later and it hasn't budged. What can I do to save it???
  9. I tried but it didn't want to stick. The overlay is enough to hold it in place thankfully. Gotta rethink before I do another. Was contemplating drilling and stitching the agate on the edges then overlay
  10. That particular one was pretty solid so it wouldn't matter much. Some of the others it would depend on the color I think. I've contemplated even painting white or silver on the translucent ones to make it show more
  11. Thank you! That's correct the rivers are just there for looks. The agate is a slice I got off eBay . I did a little bit of wet forming but not a lot. The window is about 1/8 inch smaller than the slice itself
  12. This was a bit trickier than I anticipated but project #3 finally complete (most of my other stuff I'm still stuck on)
  13. So I was walking around the antique store and found a neat looking stool I decided I wanted for 20 bucks. The top had some cracks soooo why not. Leather practice! It's rubbed down with oil and I'll start the dyeing tomorrow. Super excited
  14. Thank you for posting this! I made that pancake a while back for my first project and it's drove me nuts trying to get it to sit where I want it. Now I know why!!!
  15. Fiebings low voc black. That part went on beautiful. Then I put tan kote on and it feel apart
  16. Thank you sir! I went ahead and tooled this pattern earlier and I was pretty happy until I ruined it with dye hahahaha. I'm not really sure what happened the dye almost ate the leather? Felt rotten almost for lack of a better way to say it. It never got hard at all. Overall I was happy with the flow of the pattern though
  17. Thank you for the heads up!! Watched it and drew up another today using bits and pieces of things I liked with some slight variations
  18. So I've been sitting here studying for a few hours and I'm seeing patterns emerge. Repeating "S" curves or figure 8s. VERY similar to Victorian filigree. Making diagrams and arrow lines seems to be helping me. Maybe it might help others. Also what should the percentage of background vs design be?!?!?
  19. I'll play with the angles some more on paper. This one is 7oz
  20. No sir I haven't! Thank you for the tips!!! You know that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid with this. I've been published and on television and everything else painting motorcycles and tattooing and it was miserable! I don't want to do production, I want to sit back and if it takes me two weeks to carve a belt so be it. No custom orders, no pressure. Just make art the way I want to for once and if someone wants to buy it when I'm done all the better
  21. The decorative cuts or the veiner marks? I'm still experimenting so they probably are hahahhahahahaha
