aluminum boss--having owned a acast iron one years ago I can tell you that as far as stability he weight is meaningless because to get them to cycle correctly they must be absolutely rigidly mounted because the force reqired to complete the stitch cycle is considerable and relies on a solid mount. regards shovelhead

Tippmann Aerostitch Problem (Not Making Stitch)
shovelhead replied to luke213's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Hi have an aero just some random thoughts.I think all my needles have a round shank with no flat spot I'm almost positive. Also what is your air supply pressure? Not sure what the min is but I dont think itll work with much under 65 or 70 lbs. Also there is a shim in the shuttle assembly -its round-and fits behind the shuttle itself and obviously affects the position of the hook it may be missing or be improper thickness.Sent mine in for service once after i first got it for inconsisitent rev. stitching and one of the things they changed was the dimension of this shim.IF someone fooled with the adjustments that trip the air valves this will throw the timing off and i cant tell you how to correct this-but others have sentmachine to tippmann and for small money they will set up might be worth it or maybe someone there will send you setup instructions on this ccant be that hard? One accessory to get from them and its cheap is a seperate regulator to adjust the foot pressureshould have come with this as standard.I suspect either shuttle alignment or the screws that determine when the needle starts its upstroke in relation to the shuttle.Should be possible to confirm by visual observation. Thats all I have Hit me up for anything I may be able to help with. Regards Shovelhead -
Pricing For A Used Tippmann Areostitch
shovelhead replied to wolvenstien's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
im not sure what the books say they are woth but ive owned one for almost ten years.i believe they all had the needle position lever.only diff was new model was reverse capable.one inexpensive accessory i would def get is the regulator that lets you adjust press foot pressure.its cheap and should have come with it.they are durable machines if alittle quirky and seldom go out of adj.the tippmann peeps are top notch as you prob heard.i think they make a nice stitch on a good variety of materials. regards shovelhead -

Tippman Aerostitch - More Help
shovelhead replied to MagnusWyvern's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
i have a revearse model for many years and yes they are quirky but when dialed in they run very well i have the presser foot adjuster i am sure you can get from tippmann not expensive.i think all good advice here but if you did not buy it new and smebody messed with pneumatic timing adjusters you will be wasting you time trying to dial it in.i would send it in and let them set it up they charge a minimal amount and you would get back a sweet machine.i'd never part with mine.not sur if any body mentioned it but the machine has oil holes drilled into casting that lube the main shaft if i remember.. regards shovelhead -

a little help picking a sewing machine
shovelhead replied to punchy379's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
regarding the tacsew111 i have one to do he lighter stuff my tippmann aerostitch doesnt like to do got mine from sailright great people to do business with.i dont use the tacsew every day commercially but believe its a solid performer and think its capable of a long life.i use mine with a larger pulley to slow it down and like it alot. it has a max foot lift of one half inch makes a nice tight stitch and requires little or no adjustment for a range of sewing.yes its a chinese made machine but the quality of castings and machined parts are quite good. regards shovelhead
