  1. Got a good deal from an antique dealer on the much maligned Spittler Skiver. I stripped the old paint off and clear coated the castings. I ground out the old scrapes off the round ring with the index numbers, smoothd the inside handle surfaces and added a small coil spring over the original spring blade. After getting the blade back in shape I find it works remarkably better than I expected. The coil spring may not be the most elegant solution but for less than $3.00 the handles hold well and are adjustable within a skive.
  2. Just finisherd refurbishing an HF Osborne Spittler Patent splitter. I found a work around with parts from my KME System to hold an angle to a achive a bevel. The blade had been sharpened wrong for a long time and I found Nigel Armitages method too difficult with a messed up blade. My only regret was reprofiling this blade with nothing more coarse than 300 which took a long time. Seems to work very well.

  4. I went with 1.8 and 2.2 I think that will cover between 9 and 7 SPI, but I could be wrong, I often am! It's unusual to receive tools and not have to polish and prep them before work. I guess that's the advantage of going with a small shop.
  5. I had great results from my KS Blade irons, but feel I’m ready to push forward to pricking irons, and awls to produce a higher quality stitch(eventually LoL!). Palosanto awls came today, and I was imeadiatly impressed with the quality and finish. Service was personal, and shipping was fast. Now I just need to start punching and stitching some scrap before a mess up any good bridle leather.
  6. Passport wallet I made for my Son. #8 Chromexcel stitched with Tiger thread. I tried something different, I lined it with a silk shirt I saw in vacation pictures when my son was about 10.

How about "Red Cherry" perhaps printed on a vintage Cricket bat. Best of luck, Jim
