Just think what a nice bag you could make out of a pair of discarded " Lederhosen">
-
I find the (Tandy) double-backed tape excellent to use for mounting zippers prior to stitching, I have tried various adhesives but found they tend to be messy ( for zippers anyways).

Very unique idea and excellent craftsmanship. Your reel to reel bag is a big step up from wallets..I especially like the contrasting leather colors.

I'm wondering, why did you go with a triangular stitching job on the belt loop? Wouldn't that put extra wear on the triangle tip?
I too recently purchased the pack and modified it to make a pipe pouch with interior pockets for lighter, tamper and cleaners. I don't wanna hijack this thread so I'll post pics elsewhere, hopefully Mr Armitage will see them, as I'm not on FB.
I do have a question, though: what do you do if you end up somehow with a hole mismatch on gusset and panel(s)?
That's a good question Hardrada, I asked myself that, because on other pouches I have made I used more of a quadrilateral pattern with a few stitches along the bottom for the belt loop stitches. I will not be carrying much weight in it so I am hoping it will suffice as is. As far as your mismatched stitch hole question goes it depends how out of line it is. If just a slight mismatch I would use an awl to force a match and hope is is not too noticeable. I am learning that that no one is perfect and part of the process is being able to recover from glitches and oversights without having to sacrifice the entire project. Maybe some of the experts on here will chime in provide a better answer.

An amazing job Carnivore, I love that you have taken the design and made it your own.
That is exactly what I had in mind for those videos, learn the basics and then grow with them and you have done just that.
Brilliant Job.Nigel
Thank you for the kind words Nigel, coming from a master like yourself they mean a lot to a struggling, eager to learn amateur.

Mainly small first aid kit and survival necessities for when I am hunting.

Approx: 5" w x 4.5" h x 1.5" deep.

I confess, for an item this small I used a stamp.

I think it is perfect!! I can't SEE a single flaw in the craftsmanship.

Another puzzling question is which hand would a right handed person be most likely to be holding the wallet in whist pulling the zipper open or closed. If holding the item in your left hand it would seem more natural to use your right hand to open zipper from right to left. The way I see it, it doesn't matter which way the zipper is orientated because during the open-close cycle you will be going in both directions anyway, that is unless the wallet is held in the opposite hand for closing.
-
Is there an accepted standard direction for a horizontal zipper to open when installed in a wallet or purse, right to left or left to right, or does not matter. What is considered the norm?, assuming the front of the item is facing you.

The pink thread really compliments the project.

Go to your local quilting supply shop and get a pair of cotton quilters gloves. The ones I have came with non-slip finger tips and are perfect for holding tools and stitching.

Thanks, The template is excellent. There are no follow along video instructions for the template but there are a set of basic instructions for the tricky parts. No problem for anyone with basic wallet making skills.

Looks good for your first attempt. Is it of your own design?

That is one nice looking key fob. I like how the thread color compliments the red and black.
Embossing leather

I would think you should be very careful using a 12 ton press to emboss leather. Instead of embossing it could act like a clicker press and cut right through.
