I've sent Kevin an email, we'll see what he says. It looks like Tandy stock though, so i don't think he'll be able to get me a better deal than them and the quality would be the same. Know of any good pattern packs for wallet guts? Cheers and thanks for the reply... Adam

In either a prefashioned form (like the Tandy kits, but without the top leather) or in the form of patterns to construct the interior from lining leather. Ideally, i'd like to find a manufacturer that makes quality interiors in different styles... but i'm beginning to think such a business/product does not exist. So i'd love a dependable pattern for wallet insides... at least 3 card pockets. Trifold, Bifold, Roper style... whatever you got! Thanks everyone! Oh, and if anyone's got a line drawing of a horse in profile just 'hanging' around, i'd be delighted if you passed that on too. I have a custom journal order coming up, i'm at the design phase and just can't find the right image... three quarter profile, maybe? The last journal i did was a Wolf pattern... i'll post a pic or two.

absolutely awesome stuff. I've been digging into Bruce Grant's Encyclopedia for a few years now. Mostly in the flat braid sections and easier turk's head knots. I remember seeing the Alamar knot as a line drawing illustrated on a horse... though i guess i'm not sure it's in that Grant book. A very cool looking knot anyways. I've been thinking of doing some more braiding lately and have never really tried Roo. Do you have a good source for Roo hide? Cheers, Adam

Pat, I would add that people really love to see what a project looks like as a work in progress. I often take pictures of carving projects next to tracing film with pattern after it's been transferred. Again after it's been carved. Then again after staining and dying, but before assembly. For smaller projects, i don't bother with any of this. For the big custom orders, sometimes it's helpful to send photo updates to the customer. Later on you can use these photos to "describe" the process in PDF brochure format, for a blog, if you do a show where you have a table set up you can set a nice photoalbum out with past work and custom order forms. I'll agree with the other commenters in that you should not use sheepskin or even suede on the interior. I plan on using a thick garment hide over strategically placed pad inserts (investigating options still) stitched in. I think it can be done without adding additional stitching. I'd reiterate though that you'll likely need to adjust the pattern to fit your laptop. Make a mock-up of paper or cardboard when you've finished with the pattern before you cut out the leather... just in case something went awry.

I'm new here, so i don't know how well crude humor goes over... but there is a video on that website called "How to Mount a Small Mammal". creepy...yet funny. Anyway, Boreal Laboratories has been good for eyedroppers and scalpel and other medical/science supplies for me... though it's been years since i've tanned a hide and don't know whether i bought from them as a wholesaler or "regular" customer.

I just purchased Vol II with the same intent as you, but my laptop is smaller. I think of the 3 volumes, Vol II is definitely the one you want, though if you use the brief case pattern as i intend to, you will need to make it wider and probably taller. Accordingly, zipper length and everything else would need to be adjusted. If you score a better pattern, be sure and post it. Cheers, Adam
