Haha, I don't know which translator you picked, but it works just fine ! If one were to be picky the french equivalent for "LOL" is "MDR" ("mort de rire" which translates literally into "dying from laughter"), but as far as I know, french people use LOL even more than MDR ^^

Great job, some of your projects look like the DS Leather Goods style or maybe I am mistaken ? Can I also ask what kind/brand of paint you used on your last project ?

Hi Danne, I've read a few of your topics recently, and first of all I'd like to thank you for sharing so much of your work. I am very fond of watchstrap making too, and I prefer padded straps (also I mostly get request for padded straps). So I would like to ask how you cut your straps, especially curved/not straight one (20-18mm, 18-16mm and such). So far here is what I have tried : Pre-cutting every piece without keeping a trim allowance ---> Not great, especially on padded straps Pre-cutting the inner side, assembling with a comfortable trim allowance on the top side, and then cutting along the line of the inner side ---> actually what works best for me, but I think edges are still not perfect Keeping a trim allowance everywhere ---> that would give the cleanest edges but I find it rather hard to get clean cuts with the combo padding + curve I should mention that I don't usually cut free-hand. I almost always use a metal ruler (I've stuck a few pieces of double-sided tape under it so it doesn't slip). But I admit that the ruler may not be the best option on curved watchstraps, it's just that I don't feel confident in getting perfect symmetry if I cut free-hand. Any tip is welcome and if you have further question on how I proceed, please let me know (also don't mind my english, I'm not a native speaker so if I'm not understandable, feel free to let me know and I'll do my best to clarify).

The strip is in T shape at both ends, I skived so it does not create a bulge and it's glued in-between the 2 "main strips" of the belt, so there's no way it goes off unless it's ripped off (again, not a native speaker, formulation may be approximate but let me know if I'm not clear :or if you need further details). Edit : je vois que tu es en France donc ça sera aussi simple de mettre un passage en français haha. En gros la bande qui retient les passants est en forme de T aux deux extrémités, j'ai bien paré ces extrémités pour ne pas avoir trop de surépaisseur, et je les ai pliées pour les passer dans les incisions faite sur la bande côté intérieur, puis collées sur cette même bande avant de refermer le tout et de coudre. Je ne vois pas comment ça pourrait bouger à moins d'être vraiment arraché.

Hi and thank you for your reply, I just realized the picture is indeed not very clear. The strip is here to keep the belt loop from being lost, here is a better picture. Regarding the marbling I've bought the hide already dyed, so I'm afraid I can't help. I'd assume it's done with big brushed, but I can't tell for certain. Maybe someone here will know!

Hi! Hope everyone is doing well! Here are the recent project I've completed: * A few keyrings for my parents & a couple of friends moving out * A commissioned belt that for someone who wanted me to recreate an old belt they liked. The belt was from a well-known brand but despite being a bit costly (around $450) it was made out of bonded leather and machine sewn. I ended up recreating the exact same built but with higher quality leather, and I just kept the belt. Leather is semi-aniline finish (I had aniline as well but they wanted a very smooth leather), glued with water-based glue (aquagum), and saddle stitched with linen thread (Meisi, M40). I ended up trying edge paint for the first time (please don't hate), and picked Uniters over Edge Kote, because it holds a lot better from what I've read. I applied 5 coats, with sanding in between. There are a few things I'd do differently if I had to do it again, but overall, the belt turned out OK imo. * Another small coing/bills pouch for a friend

Yeah, I'm very pleased with this little Seiko 5 too, it's discrete, functional and I not afraid of a trip in the wild. Thank you for the encouragement, I'll keep you posted !

Hi Klara, You are right indeed, I'm part of an online forum for whatches amateurs, and I share my work there, so people contact me for custom straps from time to time, I hope it catches from word of mouth and grows enough that I can focus more on this activity!

I keep all my patterns in tagged envelopes so I could indeed do more of the stuff I liked! @Simplejack1985: thanks! I see room for improvement (sides stitch lines could be closer to the edge for instance), but it had been in my mind for a while when I made it, and overall it came out nice.

I realize that I've been busy sharing my pictures but I haven't credited the wonderful pattern creators that helped me along the builds. I mostly do my own pattern, but for more complex objects such as the purses and the camera case, I bought patterns from more experience crafters so I don't have much merit on them haha Red purse is a pattern from etsy unfortunately the store closed and I can't find the name Green purse is a pattern from DieselPunkRo Camera case is a pattern from LeatherHub, but I believe he no longer sells it. Sorry for the misleading pictures, I'll be more careful to mention the due credits in my next posts!

Any review or advice is of course welcome ! So far I've mostly been gifting my crafts, but some people have asked to buy and I hope to sell more in the future, although I'm really bad at selling my stuff.

A case I made for the engagement ring (it slides in/out). Very simple, all natural vegtan leather. Bright red handbag for my wife! Green handbag for my sister. Another couple of small items

A belt, all natural, a watchstrap with ostrich leather, and a passport cover for a dear friend of mine. Small wallets and a pin cushion for my sister! Another small wallet made out of horse strips.

A few combos! A cardholder and a green watchstrap (guess who I gifted it to haha)

Again... A cardholder! A couple cases and a couple belts! A small coinholder on which I tried spanish stitching

A camera case (again, for my wife) Some more cardholders...

Below are : - a simple sheath for my opinel, leather was veg-tan, no dye, but the patina developed very well - a simple bifold for a friend - some sort of watchstrap but instead of the watch I put a magnet inside so it can hold the sewing pins of my wife A prototype watchstrap with a middle piece. I definitely need better punches

Hi! I can't believe I did not find this forum earlier, but I'm really glad that I eventually stumbled upon it! I have been leathercrafting for about 2 years now, and I just love it to the point that I hope I will eventually be able to start a shop and make a living out of it (how unoriginal, I know haha). Anyway, it started out when I decided that I wanted to make my own watchstrap, so I got myself a basic set of tools, grabed cut some leather from an old armchair and got at it! Since then, I've bought many more tools, experimented with a few different leathers, and along the way I have tried different techniques while making many watchstraps, wallets, cardholders, cases, baby-shoes, and a couple handbags. I'll post my project in the "show off section" and link to it here later. My next projet will probably be a cigar case that a friend of mine requested.
