So, I bought a Consew 206RB-5, and I'm excited to get started. Table showed up preassembled, servo motor looks cool, whole thing seems neat...but, hey, anyone know how to set this thing up? I've read a ton of posts here, and elsewhere, watched near endless videos on Youtube, so, of course, now I know how to assemble the table that came preassembled, and how to thread the machine 80 different ways. Thing is, none of that is how to take the machine from cool parts in a box to actual, working machine. How do I install the bobbin winder? I need to drill new holes? There's a sheet metal housing that, I think, covers the belt, is that so? What are these curved springs with copper wire in them for? Or this wee metal piece lined with cork? Generally, what is all this unexplained crap, and what do I do with it all? And, of course, why is the instruction manual slightly less useful than a screen door on a submarine? I'll take my answers off the air, thank you!

Hello, I am trying to max out the height of my presser foot while sewing multiple layers of leather on the Consew 206rb-5. I am wondering if it is safe to just follow the manual on that one under 'Adjusting the Lift of the Alternating Presser Feet' ? Will this mess with needle timing or anything? Any other tricks to max out the height? Thanks!

Hi! I've tried searching other threads for answers first (MANY times), but I seem to continue to have issues with my thread tension and I'm dying for some insight. As you'll see in the photos (just a trial run so let's not even talk about how terrible it is haha) one side of the thread seems to be fine, and the back side is always appearing to pull through. It doesn't matter the thickness of material I'm using, and the issue still occurs when I change thread size. I've attempted to bring the tension all the way up/down and adjust a little at a time, but this issue never goes away. I'm threading right, the bobbin is facing the right way, the needle size is correct.. I'm just at a loss. The machine is less than a year old. I'm new to the industrial machine so it's certainly been a learning curve and it could totally be something I'm just overlooking. Any suggestions?

I would like to experiment with some different thread sizes in my FERDCO TK-206H (Consew RB-206-5 clone) with bonded polyester (or bonded nylon, prefer bonded polyester) #69, #92, and #138 with the associated sized needles. I already have the 138 sized black and off-white (Leghorn (Straw color)) bonded polyester thread already. I would like both black and white in the sizes #69 and in size #92. Hi everyone, I'm considering the Consew CP206, 206rb-5 and Thompson pw-400 sewing machines for straight stitching veg tan and oil-tanned leather, up to 10oz (4-5mm). Basically I'm making leather watch straps and dog collars. I've done some searching on the site but my head hurts now from the effort so I thought I'd post to see if someone would be kind enough to help with some advice about my specific issues. I think I read somewhere that the Consew CP206 (walking foot portable) is a more modern version of the Thompson pw-400. Is that correct? If that is true, will both handle what I'm trying to do? Furthermore, will these machines take 3-cord linen (#92/#138 equivalent) or even 4 cord linen (#207)? If they are not nearly identical, then which machine would be more appropriate? Lastly, would I have to "modify" the feed dogs and walking feet if the leather marks easily? I know that the 206rb-5 is the better choice, but price-wise and space-wise, I would prefer the portable (~$400) if it can do the job. Thanks.
