Hi there, I found a forum "thread" from 2012 and I have a question similar and wonder if anyone can help! The info about decreasing the hook oiler was great and helped. But I'm wondering if I have a different oil issue. I have a Juki 1541S (actually a Yamata knock off) it is new. I am using it to bind notebooks, all paper. When sewing, oil starts to splatter from above the needle and of course splatters on the covers of the notebooks and oil surrounds the holes of each stitch. I've seen the oil drip down the needle. My first question is: Is there a way to regulate the oil from the wick up on top of the machine? The extra oil release is not consistent but happens enough to lose many notebooks. I had decreased the hook oiler when I first had this issue and it helped. I did oil the machine very very slightly yesterday so maybe it was already over oiled..... Really appreciate any ideas. The machine is new to me and still working out the kinks. I'm attaching a photo where you will see lines of sewing with oil surrounding each hole. Sometimes it is less than starts more oil inconsistently. Thanks! and all the best, Kathryn

Hi to everyone! I have decide to purchase a flat bed in addition to my Consew 227r cylinder. I feel the Juki 1508 would be more machine than what I need as far as working with "heavy" leather. I make bags, some leather purses (3-5oz.). Other than the specs seeming to be the same, does anyone know of a difference between the Juki 1541S or the Thor 1541S? It seems that parts, etc. would all be available for the Thor, and it's a little bit cheaper. Any advice is much appreciated. )

Hello all. I am new here, but I have learned much by searching the forums. My wife and I just purchased a barely-used Econosew DNU-1541s (Jukie 1541s Clone) in beautiful condition. My wife is a very experienced sewer, and I am just learning to sew. We recently hired an experienced technician to check over and adjust the machine, as this is our first walking-foot machine. The technician sold us a replacement "M-size" bobbin case, as the original bobbin case's tension spring was slightly out-of-round. The replacement bobbin case is shown on the right-hand side of the attached picture. The original bobbin case is shown on the left - inserted into the hook's carrier. I removed the carrier to clean and investigate. Notice that the original bobbin case's spring latch and protrusion are oriented at 90-degrees, relative to the bobbin case opening at the 12-o'clock position. This bobbin case inserts with a definitive "click", as the protrusion matches the notch in the hook's carrier. In contrast, the new bobbin case's spring latch and protrusion are oriented at approximately 110-degrees, relative to the bobbin case opening. The new bobbin case's protrusion does not match the notch in the hook's carrier. Therefore, the bobbin case doesn't appear to lock into the carrier or onto the carrier's post. My wife sewed an entire day with this new case, before experiencing a thread jam and needle break. It appeared to me that the new bobbin case had rotated within the hook carrier. My Questions: Does Juki (and the clones) sell two styles of "M-sized" bobbin cases for their machines? How can we ensure that we are ordering the correct bobbin case - with the latch and protrusion at 90-degrees, relative to the bobbin case opening? I just ordered a Juki OEM bobbin case the other day, but I'm now concerned that I will be receiving the wrong style bobbin case. Thanks in advance for your help! Dale

I finally bought a sewing machine, a Juki 1541s after months of deciding witch one to buy. I was going to buy one from one of the banner ads but didn't want to pay shipping. I found out I live 30min away from Keystone sewing and could pick one up . After a couple emails and a few phone calls to @Gregg From Keystone Sewing helped me pick out a machine that would suit my needs. The level of customer service that this company provides is just not found anymore, Gregg spent over 2 whole hours going over the entire machine with me. I actually felt bad for taking so much of his time up, but he insisted that I was comfortable before I left. When I first got there and walked threw the old wooden doors I was nicely greeted by his mother running the front desk. There shop has an old style vibe with the solid wood floors, the place probably hasn't changed much since the day it opened except all the new machines lining both sides of the store. I told Gregg it reminded me of one of the machine shops I used to work in that had the pulley system on the ceiling. He then asked me if I wanted a tour of the place and his machine shop, of course I did I love this kind of stuff. I wanted some left and right single toe presser feet that were smooth on the bottom, he was actually out of stock so he took some double toe ones and made me some while I was there. I was also interested in a binding attachment so he went over different setups with me for binding attachments. I could go on and on about my whole day there but don't want to bore everyone with the details. Thanks to this forum I found a place I can get great customer service at, I am sure the banner companies provide the same since there always here to help anyone. I am just happy Keystone Sewing is in my own backyard, my next purchase I will be buying a bell skiver from Keystone Sewing and a cylinder machine. Thank you again @Gregg From Keystone Sewing for all your help next Philadelphia Eagles Parade I owe you a beer, hopefully next year. I also practiced sewing with 92 thread and 138 and had no problems at all, was a little nervous on my own but nothing time won't fix.

I recently purchased a Juki 1541 used from a person. It came with the standard foot but this foot won't get as close as I'd like to dog collar fittings and D-rings. Knowing nothing more about this machine other than it puts down a mighty fine stitch, does anyone have any recommendations on what feet to purchase to make it more leather friendly? Thanks, Steve
