Hello everyone, I'm trying to get a replacement for the leather necklace I've been wearing for over 15 years, or roughly half my life. You can see the wear and tear, I'm looking for something similar but more durable. This necklace means a lot to me and I feel naked without it. What it looked like new: I saw this on etsy and it's extremely close to what I want. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1690863787/the-warriors-collarnecklace-with-6mm Issues and other observations: 1. He only does braided leather. I do not want braided because I'm worried it'll get gunky in the braids, especially since I work outdoors. I almost never take the necklace off and yes, I shower with it. I've even gone into the ocean with it. I haven't had problems with water while wearing mine, and I've been wearing it a very long time. 2. The designs on the metal connecting bits that he has available don't quite appeal to me (besides the one I linked all the others are various animal heads) but it's the closet I've found to what I'm looking for short of just ordering a direct replacement, which I'm not keen on. 3. I do really like that it eliminates the need for the lobster claw clasp in the back. Seems like it'll be more secure than the flimsy ring I have now too. I'm always very worried I'm going to lose part or all of my necklace. Email: https://pastelink.net/y5icv1im I also have discord if that works better but you have to email me to get my username. Fair warning I might take up to a week to respond. I mentioned I work outdoors, and I'm often sent to remote places for about 8 days at a time. I check for messages to this address when I'm home. Thanks for your consideration!

Choker/Collar/Necklace
JMixx posted a topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
At a concert recently, a friend was having a problem with the inexpensive leather choker she was wearing. She said it was so uncomfortable that she had to take it off. So, for her upcoming birthday, I put together an alternative that I think will be more comfortable (and safer). The chains on the front are optional; they have lobster-claw clasps at each end for easy removal and re-attaching. Elastic is integrated for "give," and the the links on the adjustment chain in the back are "breakaway." Just sharing! Thanks. -
Here are a few of my other pieces. The first two are made from softy pig skin. This is the only leather that can be taken in water. I washed a piece by accident and it came out perfect. Very soft and beautiful. The first one laces around the back and the neck and the other is a bikini halter top. Turquoise bikini halter top at the bottom. do not ask why. I have made a few leather bound books over the years but had never tried to make the little ones that I keep seeing. Last night I couldn't sleep so I pulled out my scrap suede and leather, some old book pages and tools and started putting stuff together. I also had a lot of little trinkets and such that I added on cause I thought they were cute. Once I started making them I couldn't stop and before I knew it I had a handful done and little scraps of leather and paper all over the place. They are so darn cute! and I had a lot of fun making them. I made little signatures and sewed them in just like making a larger book. I used some wire to make loops to hang them. My mom gave me a handful of gold chains she found at a garage sale last year and I have had them in a drawer wondering what I was going to do with them. They look nice with these little books and give them a more glamorous look. I love when I can take scraps and junk and turn them into something cool. I know this project does not include tooling and lots of cool nifty things but I enjoyed making these and wanted to share. Now to decide if I will put these up on Etsy or save them for spring when the fairs start.

There was a discussion a while back about using paper diecutters on leather. I have one of the original Wizard die cutters which are pretty tough and supposed to provide 3000lbs pressure so I thought I would give it a try. I used a Sizzix Tim Holtz tattered floral die and cut the leather damp. The leather cut easily. What impressed me the most was how light weight the pendant is for the size of it.
