And they weren't cheap The house I used to live on was built over a clay base. Clay was only 18 inches below the soil. The whole area used to be known for high quality clay pots and bricks. Still is for the bricks, major exporter of thanks Fred!! from what i have read, good clay for pottery is hard to find here. I must have gotten real lucky or else no one has looked for it. LOL it looks pretty cool there. Went to the mountains yesterday and managed to take a few pics, it was hotter than heck but we had a great time found some wild strawberries, caught a couple of brookies and had a couple cold ones , then went to the desert and grabbed some more clay. Members Handstitched Posted July 22 Members Report Posted July 22 Beautiful pics Well , things are progressing . Dads op site is pretty much healed up. No more dressing changes. Yey ! We know nearly all the staff now by name , been there that many times. Still have the occasional video conference with major hospital in Perth. Hope all is well with your daughter and recovering well , and you're looking after yourself as well, taking care of our loved ones can be 'challenging ' . Take care friend HS Life is good, my friend 🍺 On both sides of the planet. It's been a ride, though, and not one I care to repeat for a while. I am slowly catching up to my chores and starting to relax a bit. Went shooting the other day just for kicks and picked up some more clay. Ive processed about 30 lbs so now i have enough to play with if my kids don't use it all up. A great thing is taking place here now, folks are buying more and more US-made products and more and more small family businesses are making a comeback, finally. I can see my kids actually being able to work for themselves and make a living if they want to go that route in the future. Anyway have a great day and say hi to pops for me!! Members Handstitched Posted Monday at 03:42 PM Members Report Posted Monday at 03:42 PM If my memory serves, years ago , mum had a few tubs of clay in one of our sheds, 2 different types for different applications. They were hermetically sealed , and still soft ready to use, heat and moisture kept them preserved. I might try to find them . I wonder ? 🤔 I also have her potters wheel, tools etc. Had our last visit to the hospital this arvo (hopefully) just another video conference to go. All that I've been doing seems to have paid off , according to the nurse, can't thank them enough for their help. And yes, not a period to be repeated. CFM chuck123wapati Posted 20 hours ago Author CFM Report Posted 20 hours ago Working on a potter's wheel and a propane-fired Raku kiln. Basically a 50 gallon drum with 2" of ceramic wool inside, lol, and one of my burners. I have a lot to do before snow flies so all my projects get a few minutes here and there. My daughter has given me another suburban the same year and make as mine so I'll be swapping some parts around, then fixing both up before hunting season and winter it will be nice to have a backup the kids can drive. I'm starting to get back on my feet after my ailment last spring, It was darn hard to get my muscle strength back, I guess old age is the culprit, I feel great now again and am back up at 4am every day starting out the day watching the hummingbirds have breakfast at dawn lol. Take care, my friend, summer is on its way to you now lol. Members Handstitched Posted 19 hours ago Members Report Posted 19 hours ago You may wish to kneel down to royalty 👑 Just kidding , lol. I've been asked to judge at our perth royal show in the leather section in September, can't say no can I? I do remember trying my hand on mums potters wheel eons ago, it didn't end well , it does take quite a bit of practice, and concentration and the skin around the fore fingers and thumbs wear thin. At this point in time, no more dressing changes for dad , just some moisturiser on the op sites. I hear you about your suburbans, I have 3 land rovers, 3 tractors and a 64 triumph herald coupe that I so love to play with. I am ' resource rich but time poor' atm . I tell my customers, " I can make almost everything, except time " Take care, HS Quote ' I have a very gweat friend in Wome called Biggus Dickus, He has a wife you know, do you know whats she's called?
