As I've previously mentioned, my part of Ontario has had a tremendous amount of snow this winter. Recently, I had to make a trip to Midland to check out a chair I wanted to buy. As I was going through two of the smaller towns on my way there, this is very similar to what I saw, though this picture was taken in Barrie, Ontario:

It reminds me of the strata in sedimentary rock! 

We didn't see this in my town. The plows cover up the layers as they pass by. Barrie got so much snow they had to do a 'snow lift'. The snow banks left by the plows narrowed the roads to the point where they had to be removed and loaded into dump trucks, which took them to a snow storage site. This method left the layers from the different storms exposed. 

Yeah, it's been quite the winter...  Barrie got over 12 feet of snow. (see second photo)!

One bit of good news, and a sure sign spring is coming. The county put the half-loading signs up on the roads this week!

sure, but sharing of that nature is sometimes restricted on forums. Should I post it here? DM it to you? Or give you hints like my cell # is a dirty word, my email is a dirty joke punchline, and my new leather email has hints of vinegar...

that shouldnt be hard, it only takes me a couple of minutes to spend that dough lol. When I was learning to stamp i would try a new technique with each project. That way I could buy the tools a few at a time and learn with them, as my experience developed, so did my tool set.  I've never been a kit type person. I have enough artistic ability and knowledge that I can design and think through just about anything, given the time. But for some, it's a great way to start out as as are the pattern sets. I have bought a few of those. What's nice is that once you have a pattern, you customize it to your liking or change it in any number of ways.

About a foot of heavy wet snow, really slush, in about four hours, started out as quarter-sized hail, then rain, then snow.  At least the wind quit blowing.

OMG, I just noticed the first comment on the post about Barrie! Too funny....

Photo I took this morning of a snow bank in the City of Barrie.

If you look closely, you will identify distinct Human Eras in the 2026 winter season.

The bottom layer is the “I’ll shovel later” period

The middle layer is the “It will melt tomorrow” period

and the top layer is the “Why do we live in Barrie" period.

Local scientists say that by April they expect to uncover a perfectly preserved Tim Hortons cup and declare it a historic artifact.

I have snow falling now, so I'm girding up my stuff with a coffee and a browse of the recent posts. Then procrastinating may move on to a jog around the trail. With the snow covering the well-packed track, I may enjoy an error called 'post-holing', where you slightly misstep, and instead of stepping into 2" of snow, you go in to the hip.

We don't have the mess that Barrie has, but we DO keep every flake that falls from late 25 until spring gets rid of it. It can be quite a lot. I'm having trouble keeping the banks around my driveway low enough to see over. It's why I back in, instead of backing out.

I'm very glad we haven't gotten so much that that's been a problem! Mainly because my street has ditches rather than storm water drains, so the plow pushes the snow into the ditches. The main street has drains, so you have to be a bit more careful pulling out, but it's certainly nowhere near as bad as Barrie.
