Carverdw Report post Posted December 6, 2022 I am writing to ask for input about two choices of Bell Skiver. One choice is the Consew DCS-4, being sold by a sewing company in Brooklyn for $1330.00 with free shipping. The second option is the Leather Machine Co. Cobra NP-4, selling for $1620.00 plus shipping (over $1900 total). I was told the Consew has a 90 day warranty, and have no idea what the follow-up service support will be from the company. The Cobra has a limited lifetime warranty, and both the Leather Machine Co., and Springfield Leather have great track records of service. My dilemma is the $600 difference in cost. Between the two machines, is the Warranty and any differences in machines worth paying the extra $600 for? Thanks for any input you may have.

GrampaJoel Report post Posted December 17, 2022 I have a Cobra np4 bell skiver. I have had it for maybe around 10 years. It works well and I have had no problems with it. it will be the last thing I ever sell from my shop. I love it! Joel
RibMtn Report post Posted April 16, 2023 Curious, what did you do for a skiver? I am also looking at skivers. I saw the ad for the Consew from the New York dealer. The closest dealer to me that carries skiving machines is Hoffman Brothers in the Chicago area. They are offering the Ferdco GT801 skiver that includes two drive motors: one for the bell knife and one for the feed roll. The Ferdco machine shipped to my residence would be about $1,700. Thanks.
