cmtul Report post Posted January 23, 2023 Hello everyone, I've ordered a bottle of rtc resist and finish, but in the mean time I have a small bottle of carnauba creme for finishing. Can this be used as a resist and use antiquing paste while I'm waiting for the rtc to arrive? Best regards, Chris
Tugadude Report post Posted January 23, 2023 I wouldn’t count on it to function the way a resist does.

Michael Sheldon Report post Posted January 23, 2023 Yeah, I don't think I'd risk it on a real workpiece. OTOH, if you have time, try it on a test piece and let us know.
chuck123wapati Report post Posted January 23, 2023 you could always test it on some scrap.
doubleh Report post Posted January 23, 2023 I agree with Chuck on this. Try it and find out. I learned quite a while ago that using a new technique or just making a change in one to do a scrap first to see just what happens.
Doc Reaper Report post Posted January 24, 2023 I’ve done this and it’s like using antiquing paste on painted letters. The paste doesn’t really change the leather color because it’s protected (the pores are filled in). But if you use the liquid antique (eco flo) it will more than likely change it some if it’s not protected enough
