Members KarenS Posted April 26, 2023 Members Report Posted April 26, 2023 Can anyone tell me what the name of the yellow leather that was used for kits and crafts in the 70s - 80s? Someone gave me a gun scabbard that had not been used that they did not want. It was stamped, dyed stamping areas and edges. Supposedly a relative had bought it in Mexico. When I looked inside the case, it indeed had not been used and the flesh side was yellow. Just wondering what kind of leather this was might be made of? Quote
Members RudolfNL Posted April 26, 2023 Members Report Posted April 26, 2023 This yellow leather is called 'natural leather'. It was widely used for crafts, artwork and kits in the 70s and 80s. It usually has a rich yellow colour and is made from sheep skin. Quote
CFM tsunkasapa Posted April 26, 2023 CFM Report Posted April 26, 2023 It is most likely a latigo. A combination tannage. Quote
