Stainless steel awls

I have started using medical grade stainless steel forceps and suture scissors To make my awls. I like the edge and stainless polished vey smooth 

coat the handle with either heat shrink tubing or plastic- dip

Wouldn't be hard to fit a wooden (or stag) handle, just cut off the ring, drill a hole in the handle and jam it in.:)

Chuck made this one for me a couple of years ago.

If you try this learn from my mistake

do not buy made in china stainless it is junk  
Pakistan seems to hold an edge well
