Missing parts? tension release bracket Consew 255

Recommended Posts

Hi, can anyone help with fixing my Consew 255? I just put in a new tension release rod but the tension slide in the back of the machine doesn't engage it. It seems there is a groove worn into the tension release slide (or whatever has been substituted for a proper slide. The present tension release slide is either a made up one or is missing some material. There is also no tension release spring that I can see. I plan to take this down soon and am hoping for some guidance here. The replacement tension release slide doesn't look like what is in my machine but matches to the parts catalog number.

If you were to push the rod behind the tension unit & then lift the foot up does it (the rod) move towards the tension unit?If it does the all you need to do is bend the bracket it contacts on the backside of the tension unit to adjust it to open the discs. If it doesn't move you should inspect the release guide as it might need to be replaced.

Cowboy Bob and Constabulary many thanks. I believe I've got it sorted. I'm missing some parts. Uwe's videos are a great resource.
