General's star stamp

Recommended Posts

I have been making a few golf score card holders. I have a request to make one for a one star general. I would like to find, or have made a 1 1/4 in embossing die without breaking the bank.  Derlin, plastic, even wood would be fine. Any ideas. Anyone with a laser or cnc out there willing to work with me?

What is so special about a General's star?

Would not one like this do?

No . . . fredk . . . that is nothing near what is needed for an American one star general . . . it's got way too much whoop-te-do around it . . . and the interior of that star is all wrong . . . needs to be just plain flat.

Military folks are pretty picky on making sure what they have conforms to "protocol" and uniformity.

May God bless,

Dwight

Try making contact with someone with a 3D printer. Just a couple of weeks ago I got some 3D printed ampersands (the & sign) made in 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 and 3/4 inch sizes and the chappie sent me several copies of each. He charged me £20 for everything, having to draw it up, print them and post them to me

honestly - i could probably do what you are asking, i have 3d printers, and just got a laser unit, so.. could go either way...but I am clear across the country from you, so there would be shipping involved and with the recent price hikes there...

However, i would suggest you try to find a local maker's group - i would think there would be something out that way.. if not in your city/town then perhaps in a larger one near you.. Olympia, etc..

Would the US post be so prohibitivly expensive? One 3D resin stamp would weigh about 5g, 1/5 ounce. A small standard postal box (does US post still do those?) about $3?  The postage and box for my & was about, I estimate, £3

Thanks guys. I decided I would just buy a metal stamped star, and use that and some oven hardening clay to make a stamp. But ultimately decided on conchos because I guess there is hope of a second star in the future. Going with conchos gives me the ability to add one at a later date regardless of the finish. Thanks again for all the ideas. I tell my wife this is why we buy all these toys! Now I really want a laser!

yes, we just had another postal price hike, and the small priority boxes here were more like $5 and change before that happened..
one can use their own box, but in truth, there isnt that much of a savings when doing so..

just a word of advice, if you do decide to get one, dont get Creality.. Quality there is hit or miss, and we ended up with a miss..
Too much hassle to send it back.. I may try to pirate it at a later date.. maybe
Other half went and purchased the X-tool D1 Pro unit after the Creality disaster - MUCH better unit! Very happy with it.
now I just need to set up a more permanent home for it.
