AlZilla Report post Posted August 20 (edited) How tightly can I turn without stopping with a 441 clone? The attached pic shows where my first turn to the left is way too shallow because I was afraid I'd skip stitches. I know on a hard corner I need to stop, raise the needle a 1/4" off dead bottom, turn the material and start sewing again. But at about what degree of turn is the point where I can't just keep running and run a smooth curve? I took this stitch line out and resewed it. Between dark dye and rewetting the leather, the errant holes aren't noticeable. Edited August 20 by AlZilla
Constabulary Report post Posted August 20 I would try some turns on some scrap leather to figure this because different machines may act differently due to sightly different settings, needle thread combination and so forth. BTW If it was me I would use a shorter stitch length on a project like yours. But that's just me.
JLSleather Report post Posted August 21 the machine doesn't care - if you can accurately turn the project "fast" you should be fine. but I agree .. I'd shorten the stitch length here.
Handstitched Report post Posted August 22 Thats what I noticed too, its a bit long. I also ' feather' the machine when going around tight corners. HS
