Members HectorsZsazsa Posted September 25, 2023 Members Report Posted September 25, 2023 Have recently bought a Seiko STW-8B walking foot sewing machine & am having problems finding replacement needles… I am aware that factory settings use standard style 135x17 needles in sizes from 12 to 24 so I bought some… However, I’ve since learned that these needles are 43.9mm long & the needle that came with my machine is 42.5mm long.. which has Schmetz NM120 19 stamped on it but no other information. I suspect previous owner for reason unknown to me has adjusted the needle height to accommodate this shorter sized needle… as I don’t know how to adjust the needle height back to factory settings I’m trying to buy some new needles but I don’t know what they are called ??? Can anyone help please? Quote

Someone has adjusted your machine for the 134-35 needle which is a mm or so shorter. To adjust for the longer 135x17 you need to loosen the screw on the needlebar clamp that is under the face cover. If you do this be sure to have 1-hand on the screwdriver when you loosen the screw & the other one on the needlebar so it doesnt drop or you'll have more work to do.Then just raise it 1 mm or so.
