Craftool® Hand Press - Huge Problems

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! ^^ I recently delved into the world of leather crafting (since July) and have been experimenting with snaps. I purchased a hand press, but little did I know the challenges that awaited me. Despite acquiring the correct die, snaps, and presumably the right press (haha), I am at my wits' end trying to affix snaps to my belts. Each attempt either ends in a ruined snap or misalignment on the leather. To add to the woes, a die has now become lodged in the silver plates after an attempt to set a snap on the leather. It's quite bizarre. Would anyone have suggestions on how I could resolve this issue? Thank you!

Quite honestly . . . a hand piece that you strike with a mallet . . . works mostly for me.

I did move up and get a hand press . . . but it does not look anything like what you have.

And I only went up with the press because I'm having neuropathy problems with my hands . . . not bad yet . . . but getting there.

This is the Tandy tool set . . . https://www.amazon.com/Tandy-Leather-Snap-All-Setter-8108-10/dp/B003A64ASE/ref=sr_1_1_mod_primary_new?keywords=tandy+leather+snap+setter&qid=1697940024&s=arts-crafts&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sr=1-1

May God bless,

Dwight

The backs of those snaps come in different lengths for different thicknesses. It appears that your back is too long for your project.

Hello thanks for the reply ^^ My Leather is 3,2mm to 3,5 and the snaps are Line 24 from Tandy. I was able to put the female once... But the male won't work like i can't even press it with the machine.
