Good quality leather sewing machine

Hello, 

I am looking for a good quality leather sewing machine for a gift. I don't know much about leather work and have been trying to research it more but haven't found anything super helpful. 

What sewing machine models would you recommend as a starter sewing machine compatible with leather work?

You need to provide a lot more information.  Is the machine going to be used for thick or thin leather? plus many more questions.
