@Tastech

Great stuff!

Could you make a new thread about it?
Just so we don't completely hi-jack the opening persons resole boot thread,

Also if you make a "tools for shoemaking" thread, it will be a heckuva lot easier for someone to find it in the future :-)

An excellent idea. I had forgotten that the OP started with something else—deepest apologies, OP.

Yup, we are fuzzy customers indeed :-)

I don't know if the thread should go under "leather tool", or if should be put in "Shoes, sandals, boots moccassins"?
technically it is a thread about the tools, but I think it would give more meaning in the foot wear sub forum. Maybe one of the moderators have an idea where to put it :-)

Heck, all this footwear discussion have made me want to go home from the job straight away and fix a couple of riding boots right away :lol:

I wish I could (go home and fix the boot I mean), but I have a feeling that there will be a bit of an explanation to the office and the rest of the ship in case I clear off, but I'll go home on Wednesday, so I can see an end to it :-)

I think I have a lasting plier at home somewhere from all my dads tools. I just have to see if I can find it. then I could really get going.

It amazes me in a sad way, there were shoe repair shops in every town when I was a young man. now its almost a lost art in less than one lifetime.

This may be true in many areas, but here in southeast Tennessee, it is not true at all. I have counted more than 20 bonafide authentic shoe repair cobblers here (the old fashion kind); at least one cobbler in every town, sometimes more.  One of the best is only 18 miles from me in Maryville, Tennessee (I live in the Smoky Mountains out in the middle of nowhere and Maryville is the closest town of any size to me). There are cobblers in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Seiverville, etc. You name the town and more than likely there is a qualified cobbler there, and none of them are the kiosk type.
