Why buy Tan Kote?

I've had a big unopened bottle of the stuff for a long time. And don't know what to do with it. It's not waterproof so I've always used Resolene as a finish. Apparently it can be used as a dilute for Fiebings Antique which I don't use so can it be used to dilute other dyes? What's you guys experience with the stuff?

I use it as a resist for antique. Afterwards I top coat with resolene.

I use it to paste finish the flesh side of leather.  It works really well for laying down fuzzy leather.  Have to use a piece of shearling or something to get good coverage out of a given volume, but it's a go to for me.

I use to "wash" after antiquing.

I also use it as a topcoat for items that will need conditioning in the future.

So you use Tan-Kote alone to finish the flesh side of leather?

Yes.  Just load up shearling with tan kote, and then buff the flesh side until smooth.
