Isaac95 Report post Posted November 9 (edited) I have been looking casually for a machine and came across a singer 111w155 for $300 in working order. It has the original clutch motor but I would plan on upgrading it to a servo if I end up buying it. I don't plan on this being my only machine long-term but would like something that can handle light to midw-weight chrome tan leathers as well as canvas. I would use this machine mainly for bags (10-12oz chrome tan total thickness) but would also be thrilled if I could do dress belts with 3-5oz chrome tan on the top and a 5-6oz veg for the backing. I realize that the 111w155 doesn't have reverse, but I don't mind finishing the stitch by hand. Would this machine suite the needs I've listed here and what is your all's opinion about the price? ljk Report post Posted November 9 I have had 3 singer 111s in the last 55 years. The last one a $10 at a auction with a broken belt.No wear on head, had that 50s crinkle paint on the head and black lacquer on the bed. It would sew 7 layers of 3/4oz Over 1/2" lift. If you are looking hears what you need . No stitch adjust on the head by the flywheel. Only on the bed. make sure hook is sharp. Generally a sloppy 111w155 will sew just fine. AlZilla Report post Posted November 10 For 300 bucks in working order, I'd be on it like white on rice. A cylinder arm might be more useful for bags, depending on the bag and construction method.
