Brand new Juki LU-1508 bobbin basket screws are tight

Recommended Posts

My bobbin basket has some thread under it and the three micro screws are in so tight that I cannot get them loosened. I am using the screwdriver juki sent. Any ideas so that I do not mar up the screw slot trying to get them out??  Is there a good hardened steel screwdriver with a handle that is easier to get leverage on?

Moved your post to leather sewing machines.  This is where the machine guys hang out, so is much more likely to get their input.

@Wbunge I used a hex bit from a gunsmith screwdriver set when I had a similar problem on a 1341. I did need to grind the bit to exactly fit the screw slot and used a small wrench to turn the bit while pushing firmly down on the bit to prevent slippage/damage.

You oil the hell out of the race  around the bobbin case first.  I have take a small block of wood and tapped the bobbin case slight to get it to move.  Be careful not to hit it hard enough to break anything.  The key is to get the bobbin case to move slightly.  Make sure the gib is off the bobbin case.
