AaronStand Report post Posted Thursday at 05:26 PM Anyone know which original make/model the Cobra Class 7 is cloned from?
Constabulary Report post Posted Thursday at 06:17 PM (edited) Seiko SLH-2B I guess https://www.seiko-sewing.co.jp/en/products/slhseries/ more or less the younger daughter of the ancient Singer 7. Thats where the 7 comes from - most likely. Edited Thursday at 06:19 PM by Constabulary
shoepatcher Report post Posted Thursday at 08:00 PM Cobra never made a 7 class. The Consew/Seiko is a knock off of the old 7 class Singer but even heavier today in its sewing capacity. Consew 733-6 i think will sew 1 5/16". Constabulary would know. glenn
DieselTech Report post Posted Thursday at 08:53 PM I think this is the machine they are referring to. So is this machine a copy/knock off of a Singer or the Consew/Seiko model.
AaronStand Report post Posted Friday at 05:02 PM @DieselTech that is the one. So it sounds like Consew and Seiko could also be clones, but I couldn't find a Singer class 7 in that exact design either. Hmmm
Constabulary Report post Posted Friday at 05:34 PM Casting is different yes so lets say the Singer 7 is the predecessor of the Seiko but it shares certain parts with the earlier Singer 7.
DieselTech Report post Posted Friday at 05:50 PM @AaronStand what will you actually be sewing with such of a beast of machine. I think I read somewhere that machine has something like a 1-5/16" foot lift. I am just curious where that machine would be best used at sewing what type projects. Thanks. AaronStand Report post Posted Friday at 06:46 PM It's definitely overkill for anything I'm working with, but I might be able to pick one up for a descent price(Consew model, that is). Only thing is, the feed dog has some pretty gnarly groves in it, I haven't done my research yet on replacement dogs and if they even have smooth ones. Could always modify it, I suppose. Also looks like leather specific needles for 1000H are sparse, if non-existent as compared to the 794 system. Still doing my research, but so far haven't had much luck. AaronStand Report post Posted Friday at 08:54 PM Scratch that, looks like the problem may have already been solved. If I end up picking up the machine, I am definitely going to give this a whirl and see if 794s can be adapted on the 733R.
