I don't (yet) have a leather sewing machine. I do have a "regular" sewing machine (like a cheap Singer machine a family member gave me).
I'm not going to try and sew 10oz leather, but is there some really thin leather that can be sewn safely?

Depending on which domestic machine you have, it might do some garment weight leather, or even pierce some heavier leather that you can then hand sew.

I've used my Singer 15K and 99 to sew thin upholstery grade leather. Its chrome tan about 1mm thick
