I'm thinking of making my own saddle soap (both for personal use and to sell.) What are your opinions on including scents in the blend? Some recipes I have seen use scented Castile soap as the base, while others seem to avoid it.

I would think unscented is the way to go. Many people like a "leather smell" to their items, not scented, plus not everyone might like the scent you choose so won't buy it. My advice, keep it neutral.

A leather scented soap might be just the thing for all those chrome tanned leathers which smell of anything but leather.

Already done for human use, Its a OK smell but not in my top 5 for Duke Cannon.
